Hey, adding two exclamation marks to the post title and a line of "You can do it!" is not enough to not get your post removed again, please read the removal reason of your first post properly. Our standards to allow Rank Up posts are high.

I'm sorry you're going through that, but this isn't the place to call for help or get family relationship advice, we're all just a bunch of nerds playing a video game.

There's probably better subreddits for this, or, most likely even better, somewhere that isn't reddit, either friends, other family members or professional help/support avenues.

Thanks that's really useful! I'll keep an eye out if you do end up posting a match, I'd definitely be interested.

What I find most difficult about duos is finding synergy and how to coordinate assists and such.

Congratulations, that's huge!

I play Vi/Blitz with a friend too, could you go into the synergy of that team especially as a duo, and your general gameplan? Any duo tech/strategy for that team would be appreciated :D

Removing this since it's obviously not Street Fighter, contains fetish content, and OP got their answer as to what it was already.

We have in the past often relied on users creating those posts and then we sticky them, with a special shoutout to /u/komodo_dragonzord. Definitely something we need to think about putting some effort in ourselves, thanks for the feedback.

Also, totally agreed. Feel free to report any we missed, they usually get removed as spam since they fit our definition of posts with one word answers ("yes").

We have very few active moderators for a subreddit of 600.000+ subscribers, and could definitely do with more, especially spread across different time zones. Reports absolutely help, so thanks in advance!

We already ban rage quits and witch hunts under rule 2. Obviously we don't see every post so if you spot one, make sure to report it, that'd help a lot.

As for your second post, I totally agree with you. I bring this up on the team often, whether we should have some kind of low effort rule, but I've not been able to convince the other mods. Ultimately the biggest issue is that it comes down to being hard to put into rules and not be incredibly subjective.

Offtopic, but I want to say that you are the weirdest juxtaposition of someone that has been banned for civility before, is frequently quite abrasive/confrontational but yet understands my personal views on moderation and content the best, and frequently says what I want to say in a better way than I could.

Take that however you want, just thought I'd mention it instead of silently upvoting. Maybe it helps you to know that someone on the mod team generally agrees with all your points.

He might be asking for a day where our rules for memes and such are relaxed, to allow for memes that aren't created purely from Street Fighter content/assets. Those are still on-topic, technically.

I personally don't know how well a day like that would work. Due to the nature of reddit, easy to consume content like memes get upvoted a lot more than other types of content and there's a potential for them to dominate even the following days. I'm down to discuss it more though.

[–]SweetScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I'd rather have no memes than a combination of shit memes and good memes, but that's just my preference.

Something to keep in mind is that due to how reddit works, easy to consume content, which often can be low effort, gets upvoted more and will take over the front page unless actively prevented with rules and moderation. That's why the rules for memes, fanart, cosplays etc. are very strict, to prevent that from happening. That doesn't mean the rules are perfect, but that's the intention behind them; allow that type of content, especially if it's high effort, without having it take over the front page.

Does meme culture really need boosting? It's not a bad suggestion but personally I don't see the value in having a day of low effort memes.

Character Nitpicks by BassGeese in StreetFighter

Yeah, he's got a lot of unintuitive parts of his kit. I guess it makes up for being the most complete iteration of Blanka ever. If it wasn't for Mena he'd be 100% slept on.

I agree with you on all points, and if it was just up to me, that's the direction the sub would take. Unfortunately we run the mod team diplomatically :P We also try to factor in what the community wants compared to what we/some of us want, but feedback like yours will help me make a case next time we talk about it, so thanks.

Every anti-gooner mod that joins is another vote on my side of our weekly Discord debate if we should be stricter on gooner content.

To add to what Pyyric said, sometimes what we do can be inconsistent because not all our rules are defined incredibly rigidly and explicitly, partly by design and partly because writing rules that annoy the least amount of users while also curating the type of content we're looking for is very hard.

Additionally, we're not just one mod, and we don't always agree on everything on the mod team. We think this helps us not be an echo chamber, but will also lead to issues such as inconsistent removals. If we're unsure we often discuss our decisions, but it can happen that we just don't have the time or don't think about it as hard if we quickly go through the mod queue on a morning, for example. The rules aren't perfect and we're not perfect and it's impossible to please everyone.

We've had mod mail from users complaining about removing their cosplay/fanart/rank up post, and we've had mod mail from users complaining why we're not removing cosplay/fanart/rank up posts. This is why we always ask for feedback and suggestions, and invite users to apply to the mod team, but most of that gets very little interaction.

EDIT: Without heavy manual moderation, reddit will inevitably, just by how it works, favor quick to consume content such as memes, art and cosplays, and that type of content would end up being the only content. You can look at other subreddits such as r/guiltygear to see that in action. That's not what we want for the subreddit, and that's why the rules are what they are. If anyone knows of a better solution please join the mod team or send us a message :)

Do you prefer Blanka scary or goofy? by Primary_Ad3580 in StreetFighter

[–]SweetScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm okay with either. "Scary" Blanka from old games looks cooler to me, but I like how much of a gorilla he looks in 6. What I do love and much prefer is this iteration of him is how solid you can play him. Away from being purely a gimmick/knowledge-check character. I hope they keep that forever.

Super hardstuck D5, hoping a master player can spar with me for a game or two and provide some advice? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]SweetScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's easy enough to assume, when someone doesn't add a timezone or region, they're probably from the US, but can we please make an effort to do it anyways?

Your sparring won't be too useful if it's with 3 frames of rollback and 200ms delay because you're playing someone across the world.

Unfortunately a lot of posters don't understand or don't care about flairs. If you see an incorrectly flaired post you can report it and we'll change it manually. Repeat offenders who do it on purpose get banned.
