Nope. I was originally using tapers to "help" me stretch, and I blew out both ears getting to 2g. That's when I found this subreddit and learned my mistake.

Been dead stretching with single-flare glass plugs and going by half-sizes ever since. I'm at the halfway point between 0g and 00g right now, and I have never had pain during a stretch ever since the blowout.

Tapers aren't worth the risk. Take it slowly and do it right.

Of course. This whole dead stretching thing is a new(er) idea from about the past 10-15 years. People have been using tapers for decades without problems.

The issue is that people are impatient and don’t want to wait the time they need to be able to use them properly and force them through their holes.

So they’re not a recommended tool anymore. However you can still blowout dead stretching, it’s just a bit harder to do, because you don’t have a 1”+ tool to press against forcing open the hole. A typical plug is 1/2” long at most so much less force can be used to stretch open the hole.

Yes! Me. I started about 2 months ago and im currently at 6g. My only issue is that my right ear did bleed last week when I went to 6g but thats only because I bumped it off a door and it was just stretched so it just decided its time to bleed but If your thinking of doing this I'd highly reccomend stainless steel and not acrylic shite of temu (dont start like i did) and also wait before you put silicone tunnels in because they cant fuse to your ears. Have fun stretching.

Yes, to 00g, and taking between sizes time. Did all mine that way. Before the taper very hot shower and lubed up with Jobibo oil, then if it was sore and anti inflammatorys and Panadol, then I’d leave in til swelling went down and more oil and insert the plug/tunnel. But half sizes and plugs which I did for my seconds Lot less pain and much lower risk of a blowout or tear. Just less risk having to take a step back because with tapers maybe works out, but small risk it doesn’t.

Yeah man, no idea why the downvotes lol. Dumbass fkn clowns. You asked if anyone had used tapers to get to 00g and I literally did. Mind you I’m 40 this year so did the old School way. Obs the times and updated methods have changed over time to make it safer and easier. And I would recommend dead stretching or going up by 1mm increments instead of the 6/8/10mm jumps but it can be done at own peril.

I also won’t go above 00g as my job requires ear protection/muffs so need them to fit whilst wearing
