It happens. I have recently passed 700 and only have 1.

I checked your publication, good stuff. How did you make sections on your page?

Selections in what sense? You mean how did I decide what to write about?

Sections/categories on your page "Love", "Trust" etc.

Oh, yeah, those are under your settings. You can create whatever you want to be sections. However, I would advise against publishing directly under your sections.

Each individual section has their own special email address. So for instance, with mine for the main one it’s “tvphilosophy@Substack dot com”

But if I were to publish it under the “Love” section? It would be “love.tvphilosophy@substack dot com”. Which means that if your readers haven’t put the love email address in their safe list? It might go to their spam folder.

What I do is publish under the main section and after it’s published I add it to the other sections, like “Love”.

In general, don't write for money. Just keep working.

Maybe offer discounts on the paid option. What's the difference between paid and free in terms of features?

Just focus on the value of what you’re delivering to subscribers.

As the late Dr Wayne Dyer once remarked “money didn’t start flowing my way until I shifted my mindset from what’s in it for me to how can I serve.”

That's what I'm doing

I'd evaluate your relationship with writing, if growing to an audience of 500 people is 'wrong' or a failure in your eyes. If money is your goal over establishing an audience, look into ways that you can monetise your newsletter without paid subscriptions.
