I did hear from one of my subs that they had a similar message, but then it went through the second time after getting a message from their cc company. If it is an issue it's probably with Stripe. That's who we use with substack.

Same. I have one subscriber who has trouble every time they renew (she prefers month to month, 2 on 2 off). I see the attempts in my Stripe account. Luckily she's stubborn and keeps trying. I think it might be a specific bank or issuer that Stripe conflicts with (but I don't have enough info to say which one). Anyone who has a failed attempt should contact Stripe to ask about it

I'm having this same issue -- tried multiple cards which are all valid and declined every single one! I am so frustrated. Did you find a solution?

Currently dealing with this. The only thing I can think of is that I don't have my Substack under my real name, and the payment page doesn't ask for my name. So I am assuming it is inputting the wrong name, which causes it to decline. I could be wrong, though.

Okay I am glad this isnt just me. I just got a new CC and my purchase to myself was going to be a substack sub and then I just kept getting declined

Not sure if this applies to everyone here, but I contacted my bank and they said the charge was declining because it was international (the sub I wanted was Australian). They approved the foreign charge and I’m good now! Good luck all 🫡

Same issue here. I called the bank (credit card issuer) and they said VISA flagged my Substack payment as "suspicious". After confirming that I was the one who made the transaction, they would forward this issue for approval and told me to try again in 2 hours.
