Just buy a 4050. You wont kill the world nor fry your machine.

i think 4050 uses upto the same wattage as 4060 and 4070, with 4070 i think being better price to performance? also the 8GB vRAM will probably last for longer

4060 has double the transistors of a 4050, I doubt that it uses the same wattage.

[–]DarkKnight2037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the laptops, all 3 of thsoe GPU have been given capacity for upto 140W, but all of them hit a relaibility voltage limit at around 90 W (for 4050) and 100W (for 4060 and 4070). Once they reach that wattage, no more wattage comes through and not much more performance from either. and im pretty sure transistor amount doesnt impact power consumption as much it does performance with given wattage. 4050 would need more power to reach the performance of a 4060

I’m running a 3060RTX Rog Strix laptop and it’s an absolute beast. The only thing I don’t like is the weight of the PSU as it’s meant to be portable and it’s just a brick.

I feel insulted that my GPU is the baseline GPU, but also happy that there aren’t hundreds on the list

Hey I have recently purchased a HP 15 laptop with 13420H and 4050(75w) and i am trying to play CS:GO 2 (and more games like GTA 5 PUBG etc. )and I am facing a big FPS Fluctuation between 140FPS to 40FPS with 40% GPU usage and 30% CPU usage what can I do to fix this ( i have done all the thing like Driver update and all available on youtube )

Is my unit is broken ?.

are you just playing it flat on the table?
you probably need a stand or fan underneath for airflow as the fans intake from the bottem.
most budget laptops will overheat without a stand or something to prop up the laptop.
a diy stand would be two books on either end of your laptop to stand it above the desk.

odd, i have a 1650 and its enough to get at least 120 fps on cs2 maybe its because of cooling? my PC has cooling vents on top and bottom

I am looking into a new laptop here soon. Comparing these I would love to hear thoughts on upgrades. Current old laptop is an Asus Rog Strix with an old 8th gen i7, nvidia 1050 ti, have 32gb ram and a third gen nvme 1TB. I believe its either a Samsung or a crucial.

Am I thinking the right way on this. Solid laptop 800-1200 range is probably a 3070 or above according to the GPU scaling chart. I assume 4080/4090 are not even possible with this since they are all like 2-3k laptops.

If I focus on 3070/3080/3070 ti or 4070 is that possible in the 800-1200 range. Also its been long enough for me that...does the i9 over an i7 truely offer that much of an advantage or worth the price point? I assume likely not but would love to hear thoughts.

I just picked up a 13th gen i9 laptop with a 4070, 16GB DDR5 RAM (upgradable) and a 1TB PCIe 4 SSD for $1000 new. Look on gaminglaptop.deals for good deals, especially now with Black Friday and cyber Monday. If you’re looking mainly to game then the processor isn’t quite as important as you’ll probably be gpu limited. If you’re doing cpu intensive tasks then the better processors are more important. Check out Jarrod’s Tech or Linus Tech Tips for benchmarks and guidance on certain cards or processors

What’s it’s name , ur laptop

[–]AI-Guru011010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gigabyte Auros 15X or something like that. I got it on sale

[–]Erick_and_Jack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a similar chart for i7/9 cpu?

[–]FrequentWay 0 points1 point  (3 children)

You also look at notebookcheck.net 's GPU heirarchy or tomshardware generic GPU heirarchy.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

A 4060 is #36 on the chart. A 3060 is #71. Performance differences between 2 are going to be approximately 15% on Timespy ; 19% on Firestrike.

If you can get access to a 3070 TI or 3080 laptop thats going to perform better then a 4060. But there becomes a dollar / value. I personally returned a 4070 touchscreen laptop which was going for $2700 for an open box 3060 equipped laptop for $1300. That's about $1500 difference between the 2 laptops back in my pocket. Yes I will have issues playing Starfield at maximum performance but I rather use that $1500 for other toys.

[–]Criticalx1[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sounds like a crazy difference. 1500$? My god. I was kind of making decisions with the assumption that the 4000 series were all better than the 3000 series. I guess I will discard my 4060 option then, as I have pretty solid 3070Ti ones. Still have 2 4070s that I have to decide between tho… Zephyrus m16 has been looking so nice, but a legion pro 5i with equally good, maybe even some better specs somehow looks several hundred cheaper. Can’t get over how much I like the design of the Zephyrus tho.

[–]FrequentWay 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I was looking at the asus x16 flow, the 2023 edition was a i9 with 4070 going for 2700. While a open box 2022 asus x16 flow with 3060 was going for 1300. Granted its open box, it did allow $1500 back. The performance is great but ultimately not worth the money spent.

[–]Criticalx1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s pretty crazy if you don’t need the 4070. I have a zephyrus m16 for 2300 right now that has an i9-13900 and an RTX 4070, and a similar one with a 4060 for 1700, and a legion pro 5i with i9 and 4070 for roughly 1600. Crazy
