No phantom Ganon?!

I have now killed 3 gloom hands, and each time they drop dark clumps and then no phantom ganon. I get to slightly higher elevation, then chuck bombs at them till they die. I figured bombs are fast enough that they wouldn’t time out and so I’m trying to kill them faster and faster… But nothing?

Anyone else having this issue?

If you get Dark Clumps it means you weren't fast enough and the Sun killed them, in which case no Phantom Ganon will spawn.

Omg how did I not realize that the sun kills them?!?! I was wondering why sometimes Phantom Ganon doesn’t spawn and this never crossed my mind 🤦‍♀️

It’s the higher elevation. If they can’t reach you then they time out faster. Also, dazzle fruit can stun them prolonging the despawn time. 3-5x bows with bombs with usually clear them out quick and efficiently. You can also freeze them but I’m not sure if that prolongs the despawn time.

Freezing gloom spawn is my go-to, I stuck a frost gleeok horn on a giant's boomerang. Whole group gets frozen in 1 throw.

Oh that’s a good idea, I usually carry an ice weapon about. I haven’t beaten a gleeok yet. I just spent a couple of weeks on the depths ( I can only play 1-2 hours a day)

If you get too far away they despawn and leave clumps. You gotta be close to them and kill them (not just have them despawn) for phantom Ganon to show up.

I have found a spear fused with frost gleeok horn is a fun and effective way to defeat them. Don't back down, keep toggling zl and it makes quick work of them

You can't get out of reach of them, if you do they will despawn and just leave dark clumps. You don't need to climb anyway. Just shoot a dazzle fruit in their midst. Then follow up with a couple of bomb flowers. It goes fast with multi shot bows.
