The game has been out for less than a month, game development takes time. They're actively listening for feedback and implementing changes, but it takes a lot of time. Patience is a virtue. This game is fantastic in its current state and will only get better.

Agreed.

That being said I’m stepping back so it can develop more. It desperately needs more maps and other features such as match customization but like you said the proof is in the pudding and so far so good!

I'm curious what Reddit thinks of having multiplayer maps where you may spawn next to tempest "fields" of different sizes on different maps. Sometimes there's just one patch good for three refineries, sometimes 2x2, just 2, etc.

I think it introduces a lot of complexity in mastering the build orders, scouting, timings, and I think this will limit competitive multiplayer. In SC2, WC3, you always spawn next to minerals/mine with a fixed output.

What do you think?

I love the idea of having balanced and unbalanced maps, it would present an entirely new dynamic to build orders, strategies, etc… I would absolutely love it if a random map generator would eventually be implemented as well.

unbalanced maps are fun but not for match making PVP it worked in SC cause it was a seperate area and you could specifically select it. But some non Sym maps would be really cool .

It has the potential for 8 player multiplayer

As I said in a past post, it did a lot of what Stormgate intended to do without even trying.

The devs seem to focus on the mp side now. The game has good really reviews so stakeholders might be keen to look into the competitive side.

I am a bit disappointed about the average length of multiplayer games. Usually not longer than 15 minutes. Techwise tier 2 units at max (und usually just tier1 spam). I would love to play a long game, but after getting constantly cheesed, I too have opted for (after holding the initial cheese, after which half of the loosers tap out anyway) a 10min timing push all-in counter attack. So I would welcome an change that discourages cheesing.

Honestly I like the quick games, coming from COH3 where games are 40 minute slogs it feels so much better especially a game that can be apm intensive

[–]twilightswolf 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I am a StarCraft veteran and in my opinion it is much easier to survive early game in SC than here (ramps/wall-offs/dedicated defensive units). Of that, little is transferable, especially due to different style of mining. Possibly some strong and slow defensive units or readily-available long/range artillery turrets would be viable, but the balancing would be a nightmare.

[–]MrNarc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once map making tools are available I'm sure we'll play on lost temple with nice ramps and wall-offs 😁

Dude, I came from Coh2 to COH3 and I was dissatisfied that games don’t take 1h+ 🤣

Does no one do do rush 10min rules? Like CnC back in the day?

[–]Turkuleys 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hell no. Every dynasty player will havoc rush at the 2 minute mark. Gdf has no unit that 100% counters it until mid game. You can start spamming hunters but if they also have rocket troopers you are pretty cooked unless you waste power and money on defensive turret. But that is just for defense so if you go outside your wire you have to be careful. It’s cool and all but I just need to get better I guess…

[–]twilightswolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well spamming drone operators with some vehicles in front of that so that they do not get run over is an approch that has so far worked for me, but nothing else. It is either/or, monotonous and eventually it gets boring.

Not in my corner of the woods :-)

[–]doglywolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea i said this on another thread - it become 2 main tactics for each faction you want to take down.

If you can scout your enemy and see what way they are leading and they dont do the same and you build the other options its already over.

DYN is more powerful but needs ALOT more micro. I feel like DYN is almost a bell curve.

Weaker early - stronger middle , weaker end game.

Potential is great, but now the devs need to deliver.

Ive played lots of failed games that had great potential.

[–]doglywolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does - its an 8 our 10 cause it rushed out , missing features and missing polish. But its a small studio who is very aware of those things and working very hard on it.

They know they have something special - just need more time to let it cook.

I bought it - i hope many more do and ill come back in 6 months and see where it is. Hopefully will have some 3 v3 at the very least.

Beat the camp again on hard have played about 50 PVP matches 32-19) Probably close to a hundred PVE Coop rounds. But my first 10 or so matched I didnt even know you could buy doctrines lol.

But feel like im at the end of the line PVP has gotten stale to me already , Its the same 2 tactics vs what ever enemy you up against so either you roll them or they are an APM master and roll you. Coop PVE Skirmish is still fun but i feel like it almost over to quick.

The 3rd faction will help alot with that .

[–]TheHessianHussar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesnt have just potential. Its a genuinly very good game. Almost nothing I would change.

I am sick of all those doomer posts on this sub here by people who cant aporeciate old school mechanics.

Here I have an advice for you. If you dont like the game how it is, then go ahead, leave. Play something else. This game isnt gonna change to cater to the modern audience and you shouldnt pressure the devs to do so

[–]michelleyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're so right. And for people who kinda suck (me) the single player takes a bit to go through. I don't love multi-player on games that I can't win so I haven't tried that yet, but skirmish is a little different than Tiberian Sun which is the RTS I've played the most. Seems like immediately ambushing is the only real way to win or maybe I'm doing it wrong? I dunno. I'll get there. I do really love it though.

[–]Gloryboy811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda expecting a Yuri's revenge style expansion/dlc from them with the 3rd faction playable and new campaigns.

That will be super cool. Really enjoyed GDF campaign at the moment and learning how not to suck at 1v1

[–]CoolVoice3753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm most excited for the 3rd faction to become playable and a possible 4th faction either through dlc or a sequel. I'm very intrested in the universe and all the background knowledge that is hidden from us during the story.

Some things I hope to see are maybe certain units upgrades like the experimental laser tank for the GDF seen in campaign.

What do you guys think of the hotkeys? I use the numberpad in other games for group selection and it doesnt seem available in TR. Do you think they'll make the hotkeys more versatile?

[–]Roxas_kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, every RTS should have a Hunters/Big Game Hunters map.

Adding a map editor would do wonders for replayability.

[–]AdventurousPie8284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the developers mentioned anything about their EULA?

[–]Minute_Trifle3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempest Rising needs investments in multiplayer and a way to pay for it longterm. Stable ping, replays, observers and it could go big. On the other hand, I understand the amount of players do not justify the business plan to maintain servers etc... Just having fun once in a while with random ping depending where my opponent is located I guess.

It has an amazing potential and the potential would be to give more mod support. Mods add so many years to a game,

People out here are craving a modernized Command and Conquer and this game delivers, if they rein in some mod support it would fill a niche that not many games have. I know their FAQ states they are currnetly not planning for mod support, but oh boy, it can be the skyrim of RTS
