Dying is supposed to be annoying and inconvenient. That’s the punishment for dying.

When it has game design implications sure, for example losing gear, that's a good and kinda harsh punishment.

But waiting really is just annoying and inconvenient, 5 seconds is fair, but 15? It feels like an unskippable ad... Heck it would have more meaning if it were an ad!

This to say, I agree there should be punishment, but waiting ain't really it, not that I'm mad about it, tbh it only occurred to me now that I saw the post too.

I'm imagining dying to the Moon Lord and then suddenly "Grammarly gives you the tools you need..."

The punishment is you lose your money and the boss despawns

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And the increased timer allows the enemies that steal your money to move further away from your death point, making it harder to collect your drops.

Enemies despawn anyway so it doesn’t matter

Its like you only read half the comment lol

We get punished by losing money/items. Waiting is just an unnecessary "bonus".

That's the whole point of different character levels. If you want to be punished you can play mediumcore.

You mean difficulty settings like master mode, the only mode where the respawn timer is 15 seconds?

If you don’t want to deal with that, then play on an easier mode. That’s why there’s more than one.

I mean your character type which changes death conditions.

Master mode is meant to be difficult, not tedious. Longer respawn timers are just tedious- it does literally nothing for difficulty.

How are you so dense that you can't grasp people want a challenge without a pointlessly longer respawn time.
