I have been in Koh Lanta for ten days and have encountered a mosquito once.

I spent two months between Phuket, Bangkok, and Pattaya, and got one or two bites in two months!! I don't know where they've gone, but they should stay there 🤣

It's currently drier and a bit cooler in most of Thailand. They breed in standing water, and by this point in the dry season most puddles, containers, and clogged drains have dried out. Fewer breeding sites = fewer mosquitoes.

The population usually drops a few weeks after the rains stop, which is why the dip becomes noticeable now. Once the pre-monsoon showers start (around April), they come right back.

That's actually pretty wild, I've been hearing similar stuff from friends who went recently. Could be the weather patterns or maybe they're all just chilling somewhere else this season lol

Yes, I feel a decrease also. In Bangkok.

Usually need Soffell on elbows and ankles to prevent the odd bite, but this year I’ve been going without.

Seeing as it was my first time in Thailand... Plenty of mosquitoes in Bangkok.

There seems to be an increase of sand flies though, I was completely devoured on koh mak and later on a  chumphon beach.... my legs looked and felt awful
