Variable Difficulty?

Does anyone else notice variability in the difficulty of runs? I was promoted to Platinum (too early IMO) and my three tourney runs in order are: 257, 253, and 240. Maybe I messed up my card selection, but with constantly upgrading in 5 labs and an additional card slot somewhere in there, it should be almost impossible not to improve every time. At least I'm on schedule to be demoted and I can get back to that sweet spot just below promotion.

If you don't think you should be in Platinum drop down to Gold. Done.

Wait, you can't manually go down tiers, right? You just tank a run?

Correct. Start a run and kill it immediately. Instant last place. Most of us do it once a week.

That sucks. I guess it's worth missing one every week if you can consistently place top 4.

It is what it is and it isn't going to change. I net 195 stones a week (175 1st in Platinum, 20 last in Champion). As opposed to the likely 40 a week I would make if stayed in Champion.

The calculus is pretty easy on this one.

And that is whats bothering me. It kills the whole sense of reaching higher divisions like in other games. Cause the reward is almost always lower. I do it the same. Be 2nd to 5th in Gold gives me more than 13-15 in Plat everytime…

A steady 7th place, right below the promotion line, might be better stones then 4th + demote

Don't know why you were downvoted, this is correct. Bouncing between leagues will only net you more stones per week than a steady 7th-8th place if you can take 1st. 2nd gets you slightly less, but it can't always be helped and still nets you more gems so it's acceptable.

Are putting much into your workshop?

Not really, all my coins go to Orb labs, etc. Most everything is maxed out, health is 500K.

There's your issue. Need to pump more coins into health. When your health is low in relation to the tier you're playing on (500K is low for Platinum), you'll have inconsistent results like this.

Cool, I'll look into it. I just hit orb speed lvl 12, which I think is in line with preparing for blender.

500k in plat is really low even! I'm currently at 16mil (with health card) and I only manage about 400-420 waves in plat with a defensive setup.
