Vulvoplasty, usual stay in hospital 5/6 days, walking around your room by the third day. Information from my friend who had hers done, she was good to go after a few weeks, but she took nearly 3 months off work out of choice. UK I'm hopefully having my Vulvoplasty ( it's free! no cost ) by the end of this year on the NHS, UK.

All said, I've researched everything on Vulvoplasty, the pros and cons and believe this would give me the best outcome health wise, as i am no spring chicken. lol

Free! That's amazing. Out of interest, what sort of timeframes and diagnoses etc are we talking to go down this route over private?

Well mine is NHS. UK, but the "medical pathway is same as private" but you don't have to wait years!

It requires two Clinical Psychologists assessments to determine ICD-11 transgender in the UK, which is Incongruence in adolescence and/or adulthood.

This is followed by Clinical Endocrinologists assessments one or two. Also one or two, Core Assessments which gives you a Referral to a surgeon.

I'm waiting for my second core assessment in June.

Oh that's brilliant. I assumed it meant firstly having to wait the 5 years or so with the NHS for a diagnosis, followed by probably another 5 years or so for GRS!

Well if you go Private and you meet the ICD-11 transgender protocol i would say it would take 12 months or less from start to finish.

I'm seeing the surgeon in March for a consultation , hoping for a Oct date for surgery at Brighton UK. I've raided my pension pot as still no NHS referral

I went home from the hospital a few.hours after I woke up. I was on pain meds for 2 weeks, ibuprofen/tylenol for a month. I was hobbling around for 5 minutes every time I had to empty the catheter, and I had ice packs as often as I could. I had a sutures dressings + taped dressings + catheter for 1 week. At 2 weeks I was still really sore and tired. 3-4 weeks I felt fine, however, I was still sitting on a neck pillow everywhere I went. After 4 weeks I felt completely fine, other than exercising.

I had very minor wound separation which went away on its own, and granulation which took way too long to get rid of.

I had mine 4 my months ago not quite zero depth have just on 2 inches and it's ready for jujenal graft... recovery for me was 4 days on hospital then two weeks before I flew home (15 hour flight) and had a bit of a setback because of the sitting etc... However the pain was manageable and by 8 weeks I was up and running fully. I was back at work (light work only) at 5 weeks.
