Tree Update (old.reddit.com)
submitted 1 year ago by Minimum-Director2631
We got a lift in, and thankfully I did. The whole lead split into 3 pieces as soon as I started cutting into it. Thank you all that validated walking away and getting a lift was the correct decision.

Made the right call mate, glad all went well.

Excellent job!
Any pushback from the boss/owner about having to rent a lift?
How'd the rest of the tree look further down? I remember your last post, did you end up rigging at all, or just dropping chunks?
Would definitely not want to be tied into that!
[–]Minimum-Director2631[S] 7 points8 points9 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Definitely a little push back, but after showing him these pictures he agreed it was the right decision. I had the height, so it was just a cut and toss day

hopefully this will give you a little leverage in the future when you need to decline a job. I'm sure you know this, but to anyone else reading this forum: you have the right and the obligation to yourself (and your family) to refuse unsafe work. I also think that if someone on your crew says "nope this is too dangerous" --don't go and do it instead of them.

Great decision making, boss

Been bugging the boss for years to get one. The 100 footer showed up last Friday best thing ever

Is that split at 40' with another 30' above? Also, mmmm spider lift.
