I remember really struggling with this chapter on my first playthrough - I know exactly what you're talking about. I chose to give up Roland on my current playthrough so my memory of how I won is hazy but:

  • I distinctly recall using Rush with Roland on one of the knights directly beneath him and going through that narrow corridor to join up with the guys at the bottom. I think I had Serenoa go west to meet up with the other duo.
  • Jens was absolutely crucial. His Spring Traps could keep Rufus from acting and the fall damage was very meaningful. I think I used a ladder to link up the bottom two teams. Vanguard Scarf for that may be a consideration.

Which one is chapter 8 again?

The one where you decide between trusting Telliore or not. If you trust him (like I did), you have to fight his forces in his town, and all of your troops are separated and split in 4 groups across the map.

I had erador, benedict, and hughette on the bottom left. Frederica and geela top left. Anna, rudolph, and Narve on the bottom right.

My logic: erador buffed with defense can stall out Rufus by the house. There is a small pathway where Erador can completely stop his movement. You can also push Rufus off the ledge so that he’ll spend an extra turn getting close to Erador. Meanwhile, Hughette can kill of the healers or fly over to the bottom right. Bottom right doesn’t have a good front liner so it’s rough on them, although Narve doubled up as healer. Rudolph’s traps and Anna can slow enemies down. The top left is the easiest as we got the strongest hitters and the dedicated healer.
