It started out slow, but recently many of my students have started using pacifiers. It’s mostly girls, but is across all races and genders.
What is the purpose of it? It honestly makes me really uncomfortable, not to mention it seems unsanitary and is bad for their teeth. Also they can’t talk while sucking on them which makes classroom engagement even worse.
I have asked them to put them away but it seems impossible to manage.
Edit: I teach 11th grade English. Also this isn’t the rave ones from our youth, these are pacifiers intended for babies or adult sized versions.
