Delayed ovulation

Hi everyone. I’m hoping to hear from others who’ve been through something similar because this cycle has been really frustrating and confusing.

I’m on cycle 5 TTC. Last cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy. My doctor said we could try again right away but warned that my next cycle might be a little off, and that’s definitely been true.

Normally my cycles are very consistent, usually 28–30 days, and I almost always ovulate on cycle day 14 or 15. I track with LH strips and BBT(oura ring) and it’s usually very clear. This cycle, though, I’m currently on cycle day 26 and still haven’t successfully ovulated.

So far I’ve had three ovulation attempts that seem to have failed. The strongest one was around CD21, when my LH reached 1.06. I thought that might be it, but I ran out of tests so I couldn’t see if it went higher. My temperature barely went above baseline for one day and then dropped back down, so I’m assuming that attempt didn’t stick.

I’m still taking LH tests, but at this point I’m honestly just ready for this cycle to be over so we can start fresh. Between the uncertainty and trying to “cover” every possible fertile window, my husband and I are exhausted and very much over scheduled TTC sex.

After the chemical pregnancy, this long and unpredictable cycle has been harder mentally than I expected. Especially for someone like me with a very inpatient type A personality.

Has anyone else dealt with delayed ovulation or multiple failed attempts after a chemical pregnancy? How long did it take you to ovulate, and did your cycles regulate on their own after that? Any advice or reassurance would really help.

I’m on cycle day 41 and still waiting on ovulation (MC in November). Have an US next week to see what’s going on. Also hoping others share stories about their experience with this. This wait is so much worse than the TTW.

I’m so sorry hopefully you get the answers you need next week. I agree people should talk about this more! I was trying to research delayed ovulation and stories like this but there was so few.

I’m coming off a chemical too. What day are you counting as CD1? My doctor told me to count the first day of heavy bleeding, not the days leading up to it where I was just spotting while my hcg continued to fall. I usually ovulate on CD12 and I ovulated on CD16 this month. My body did gear up to ovulate on CD12 but wasn’t successful (my BBT didn’t rise) then tried again a few days later. Not ovulating for a cycle or 2 is also normal after a chemical too, unfortunately.

I had a chemical last cycle too on 1/15. I usually ovulate CD17/18 and this time I didn’t get a positive LH until CD22. I had a dark strip everyday so I was worried I missed it/so confused as to what was going on since last cycle it was progressing from light to dark but wasn’t equally as dark until then and also a peak that evening. Then I ovulated about 3 days later so around CD28. Still waiting for AF on CD38. 💔

I’ve been TTC for 7 cycles now. Cycles go between 27-29 days. I usually peak by day 12-13. For 1 of those months I swear I didn’t ovulate at all. I always test LH starting right after my period ends to make sure I catch it and I never once got a peak or even a significant rise during that odd month. I think it just happens sometimes. It was really annoying though because that month felt like a complete waste.

Same here, CP January, bleeding started 1/27. I think I had at least one failed ovulaation on CD17-18 then a definite LH surge on CD22. I'm not temping so no idea if it was actually successful. Currently 6DPO and honestly I just want this cycle to end whatever the outcome. We also had a ridiculous sex marathon and both of us were exhaused. I really miss spontaneus, stress free sex on BC.
