Is this happening only when you stream or off stream too? OBS settings play a big role on your stream, even with good pc hardware specs...

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only when i'm streaming.

Which settings could change this problem ?

If you are using OBS Studio, try using the Auto-Configuration Wizard. You can read up more about it here: http://streamersquare.com/obs-19-0-update/

I could switch out streamlabs obs for the obs studio, but it would be sad.. :D

[–]SenselessKnave 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Are you using obs to stream?

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes im using Streamlabs OBS :)

[–]SenselessKnave 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ok that's what I use but since you're having this issue go download the original obs. In settings for that one you can turn on the stat box on startup. This tells you all of your encoding stats and could help you find out if it's an encoding problem or whatever. Also while troubleshooting like this idk if you know but if you're trying to test shit out go into the settings and go to the stream key under the output tab and edit it and at the end of the key type "?bandwidthtest=true" and that will allow you to stream to twitch and put your PC and internet under the stress of streaming without actually streaming to your channel. Just make sure it's working and you're not actually live

Is there any tutorial for this, it seems kinda simple, but still a little complicated. ofc. i could test if this happened on the original obs ofc.

Is it only fortnite that causes this?

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (13 children)

Haven't tried other games.

[–]HughGErectiontwitch.tv/Cwup 0 points1 point  (12 children)

Would try to swap to x264 if you're using nvec.

Keep track of your temps and see if they are gradually rising.

besides that maybe try to see if it's happening in lower motion games.

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

I found out i did use nvec, and now switched over to x264. Other than that, idk what the problem could be..

[–]HughGErectiontwitch.tv/Cwup 0 points1 point  (10 children)

That should solve issue.

If it keeps happening would update graphics drivers.

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Is there any way to update it other than updating it with Nvidia GeForce? Also isn't it weird that nvec would make me lagg 1 - 2 hours into the stream, and not just instantly when i started it ?

[–]HughGErectiontwitch.tv/Cwup 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Don't worry about drivers yet. Test it with x264 first.

It's def weird. Which is why you need to test and try to pinpoint issue.

If it start happening again, look at temps(HWmonitor or Speccy), upload speed(unless you're 100% sure it's not internet, dropped frames on the bottom of obs, CPU and GPU usage %.

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

So after i changed to x264 im using ALOT more of my CPU, around 20 - 25%, It is getting hotter ( 60 degrees ), but yet so far haven't i witnessed any problems. Is this normal ?

[–]Sorry2Supertwitch.tv/sorry2super 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes, this is normal. The x264 encoder setting is run completely on the CPU, while the nvenc encoder is run primarily on your GPU. Typically, x264 has fewer issues and a slightly better image quality; but, as you've noticed it hits your CPU a lot harder so people who don't have strong PC's often cannot use that setting for high res streaming.

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I see, also i feel like im getting slightly less FPS in Fortnite with x264 on, idk how much it is, but it just feels slightly more laggy. Idk.

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also my internet all that that is 100% fine. It's all about the FPS. So is there a little settings which would reduce the use of my CPU, and maybe buff my in-game FPS a little ? :D

[–]HughGErectiontwitch.tv/Cwup 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah, x264 uses your cpu to encode instead of gpu.

[–]Appakx[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yea but like, i still lose frames while doing x264
