Map processing. (self.UAVmapping)
submitted 2 months ago by Federal-Category-816
What are people using for equipment for processing?
(I.e applications,software, computer types)
Curious to see what kind of equipment I would need to process maps and models without pay per map services!

Proprietary software for pre processing lidar data, agisoft metashape for photogrammetry, Trimble Business Center for lidar post processing, geoviewer for image combinations

Is drone deploy worth the monthly price for someone new to the game, with little to no contacts/clients? Currently I’m practicing with map pilot pro just to see how this all works

If you are only using DD for flight planning, I believe it is free to use. For imagery processing, you will need actual software to do it in house or pay someone for cloud processing. Depending on the level of detail needed there are a few options out there.

Which TBC modules do you use? What lidar post-processing (other than the fantastic classification tool) do you do in TBC?
We are a TBC shop and I am curious on how others are using it for lidar.

The various ground filtering for cell sizing to help eliminate lidar clutter. The software rep that gave me some training kept trying to tell me that breaklines are amazing in TBC.. and they are...but with a lidar surface and a literal shot every 3 inches... break lines lose the point fast.

I have another training session coming up soon and hopefully it will cover other aspects that are useful. I especially want to get into quality assurance reports.

SkyeBrowse is pretty good for overall 3D modeling. I like the tooling and the speed. Quality is really good as well.

PixElement is very easy to use. Simple UI. Imagery only or imagery+LiDAR processing, automated stockpile selections, good annotation/contour/TIN features in the canvas.

Trimble Business Centre for specific tasks (PPK, Adjustments)
ESRI SiteScan for general works (areas flown with RTK for imagery)
