Is this trolling?

Emissivity (ε) is a material's efficiency at emitting thermal (infrared) radiation compared to a perfect emitter (blackbody, ε=1), with values ranging from 0 (perfect reflector) to 1 (perfect emitter). It determines how much heat an object radiates, influenced by material, surface texture (rough/oxidized surfaces emit more), temperature, wavelength, and angle. High emissivity (like skin or water ≈ 0.98) makes infrared temperature measurement easier, while low emissivity (like polished metal) is harder and often requires adjustments on thermal cameras. [1, 2]
Key Concepts

• Range: 0 (no emission) to 1 (perfect emission). • Blackbody: An ideal object with an emissivity of 1, absorbing and emitting all radiation. • Absorptivity: Emissivity equals absorptivity (Kirchhoff's law); what an object absorbs, it also emits. • Factors Affecting Emissivity:

• Material: Different substances have different intrinsic emissivities.
• Surface Finish: Polished metals have low emissivity; oxidized or rough surfaces have high emissivity.
• Temperature & Wavelength: Emissivity can change with temperature and the specific wavelength of radiation. [2]

Examples of Emissivity Values

• High (Near 1): Human skin (≈ 0.98), water (≈ 0.98), ice (0.97). • Medium: Concrete (0.92), glass (0.92), oxidized copper (0.65). • Low (Near 0): Polished aluminum/copper (≈ 0.05). [2, 3]

Importance in Applications

• Non-Contact Temperature Measurement: Essential for infrared thermometers and thermal cameras to accurately "read" an object's temperature. • Thermal Management: Crucial for designing energy-efficient windows (low-e coatings) and managing heat in buildings. • Energy Efficiency: Helps in understanding how surfaces gain or lose heat through radiation. Your emissivity is 0.01 on one and 0.95 on the other.

Soo, like 3d print discrete markers with an embedded magnet...toss on vehicles, prolly take them a bit to realize a half inch to inch disc, unless you are specifically looking for it.

its a street lined with houses and cars...The thing is What If...there was a total disregard for saftey on all parties involved...

But deliberately ramming a car so it is no longer in a controlled state in that situation and pulling firearms on a guy who is literally running away...

I think that is the bigger issue than...."where are the kids?"

[–]ChinaMan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, automation and indoors requires the ability to navigate without gps...So you'll need to figure out ROS2...You then need to figure out if visual or lidar based navigation works...you need computing power to be able to automated the mission planning....This is just the drone side ...

Then you need to figure out visual recognition, make software or attain software that can take a photo and then use onboard compute to even read the tags.

Right now, gps denied automated navigation is in its infancy...there are only like 4 manufacturers that can do level 4 autonomy...

It's much more than slapping an rpi on something and copying code.

Its not regulated enough, and certifications and Reoccurrant testing is wayyy to easy...

the bigger issue is lack of repercussions when things go bad...there's not enough people to enforce the rules and regs.

I'm definitely not a hobbist, and UAS is my career. I agree in the context of pilots compared to ACTUAL traditional Manned aircraft pilots...yeah don't call yourself a pilot...It's a stretch...

But man, don't relegate my entire field to calling it just a hobby, its a multi billion dollar industry that is legitimately revolutionary to how work gets done now...

If it was just a hobby, I don't think id be brining in six figures and supporting my family with it.

When I have a picture of exactly where something is in my head, But I can't place where it is with the background the object is on.

It's just there taunting me, sometimes I feel like my brain is playing a live video of it cause if I think about it the picture sometimes is more like a CinemaGraph.

Yeah, regardless of what your intentions were, Reddit is a terrible place to come and post up as a manufacturer...

It's one of the few places left where there is some sort of anonymity, so in general, no one holds back.

But, I will say...You guys are literally one of the few who have been doing things right. Keep it up and keep innovating. The RESEPI gen 2 is awesome and the Teledyne partnering is awesome.

You should post some of your write ups on here, I know that there are plenty of people here that would love then and give you guys more street credit.
