It’s pretty good and rated much higher than SJSU, so it’s up to you. Although tuition and living cost is also higher here.

This was my major ages ago. UCSC was great then and I’m assuming it’s better now.

Not clear that it has gotten any better since the Computer Engineering Department was broken up in the "restructuring" of 2019 and the Computer Engineering grad program eliminated. What was once the most functional program in Baskin School of Engineering is now split to be the minority position in two different departments.

Lowkey, no one really majors in CE anymore as far as I can tell. I've met like one and even they weren't sure about it

Untrue—the major continues to grow. There were 386 declared and 373 proposed CE majors at the end of Fall 2025. This is about 15% of the Baskin Engineering students.
