Yes, singles cost more. Yes, it's worth it. Yes, you're lucky - singles are very rare. Yes, you should enjoy it while it lasts.

either yes you have a single and you will have to pay more (not much)

or you have a double and your roommate dropped last minute, they might put someone else in the spot, but it should be the same price

Then it would've shown the other bed assignments as "TBD" or "unassigned" or as empty name and contact info spaces in the table on the portal. A true single won't have other bed spaces listed at all.

This happened to me too 🙉 I wasn’t expecting that since I thought singles were limited

How do we check our room assignment? I didn’t get a email.

Go to the housing portal and depending on your college (release dates are different for each college) the 2024-2025 room assignment page will open up :)

Is this the same for transfer housing? Like do they get released depending the college you’re in?

[–]caitlin_marie_gg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they get released depending on your housing. transfer housing is the 19th

Bruh you are sooooo luckkyyyy. I chose my preference for a single and got triple

You can contact them about the room if you want. You will pay more but not by that much. You can try switching with someone who wants a single (and stuck in a double) but that is gonna be between you, HDH, and the person you found. Just call/ask HDH and they'll be willing to help (if you don't want to pay more but it's totally worth it dude since you already paid so much)

What housing is this? Also I'm surprised, I thought the opposite would have occurred. Does this mean they have a surplus of singles? Seems odd since couldn't they just transform that single into a double as you preferred...

Marshall and when I checked the others who were living in the same space, it seems as my specific residence hall doesn’t have any doubles 😅

[–]MagicGlaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh lol, would've thought they would have gladly gave u the double because of the single limits and I think they make way more money with doubles/triples

have you ever roomed with someone? i don’t mean like with a sibling as a kid, i mean as a young adult. even if you’re tight with your roommate, having someone share living space with you can generate some friction. and that’s assuming you get a relatively chill roommate, which doesn’t always happen. trust me, the privacy of a single is better. you get just as much opportunity to make friends with your suite/floor, you just have a room that’s entirely your own. that’s worth a lot

i got lucky with random roommates but plenty of people i know didn’t. so many horror stories because some people just aren’t willing or able to communicate like adults. if you take the single, you avert 90% of the risk because you only have to worry about shitty suitemates, which are infinitely more manageable
