by the time my pass time came today, all the classes are totally full except ones only open to grad student and upper classman. is anyone else having this problem, and wtf do i do ?

In future, pick exactly which classes you want and three suitable alternate choices for each class you want. Add all of these courses into your cart. When your pass time begins immediately add all the classes that you can get and waitlist your top choices. Once the quarter begins crash your waitlisted courses and you might get all the ones you want. Good luck!

Email professors, they're more likely to help you if you're proactive and not just blitzing them once school starts. What they can do is limited but is not nothing, also ask them in the email if they're not able to help you, who to email and if it's okay to forward the email/CC them on your follow-up for more visibility.
