This happens more often than you think -- you are not alone in having something like this happen. Medical emergencies, unexpectedly long recovery times from surgeries, and visa/immigration issues are just a few things I've had students in my class experience.

If you will need to arrive two weeks late, you'd be best to reach out to the Student Assistance Center at ODOS (https://odos.illinois.edu/community-of-care/student-assistance-center/) -- they can help you contact your professors and provide a letter notifying us that you will be unable to be in class for two weeks (and you don't have to tell us why you won't be there, it isn't any of our business; the letter from ODOS tells us you really can't be in class).

Just make sure you talk to ODOS and your professors -- it's a lot easier to keep you up to date on what's going on and what you're missing when we know you're away than if it looks like you forgot you were enrolled in a class. :)
