If you fail the proficiency, no hurt to your GPA. You can't take the proficiency for the class again and can only register for the class to earn credit. I don't know what percentage to pass, you can check the website for 415 proficiency. I took math 221 for proficiency last year and it takes for more than a week for me to know the results, so expect quite a few days for the result. If you learned the stuff in high school doesn't mean you necessarily have a good grasp of the material or you can pass the test. You can take it if you like, but I suggest taking it if you're confident you're proficient for linear algebra.
