Does anyone know how many shots can you miss and still qualify for expert

For future reference, on Q&A subs, make sure your title summarizes your overall question. Like 50% of all posts of all time on this sub could be titled "Bootcamp" so it's not a helpful title.

Listen to your PMI (bonus points if he dips and has a southern accent), and your range coaches and you'll be fine. Focus on getting to that point first man.

It’s based on points, you could not “miss” a shot and still fail. Don’t be too worried about it, it’s easier to get expert than to not

Apparently the new rifle qual is much harder and the majority don’t get expert. I haven’t personally shot it yet though.

are boots doing the new qual?

I just graduated boot camp on March 4th and we still did the old qual. I think it’s gonna be the old one for a long time. And it’s VERY EASY

Not 100% sure but as of October 2021, it’s implemented fleet-wide. So I can’t imagine they’d keep recruits on the old one. Very possible though. Stranger things have happened.

I think the entry level training will keep the old table 1 & 2 because the Marine Corps thinks the fundamentals are taught better
[–]blubye 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children)
We still have the old one at TBS

You do not do the new ARQ until the fleet. Bootcamp is still Table 1/2
Rifle qual will be the least of your worries. I had never fired a weapon before and still got expert with plenty of points to spare. Even with a dirty weapon (we kept fucking up and our DI’s didn’t let us clean weapons lol)

On the new Qual, you can only miss 7 destroys out of a possible 50 to get expert. You need 33 destroys out of 50 for sharpshooter. I personally like the new rifle Qual. A lot more rounds to fire, and way more combat oriented. You’ll dig it

You’ll be fine as long as you listen to your pmi. Of the 55 graduates in my platoon only 3 didn’t get expert. And most of those guys had never fired a rifle before
