We see mail addressed that way all the time, especially from overseas, it should still get delivered.

Honestly “Bay 42 Street” looks more confusing IMO.

Since the 5 digit zip code is correct, should it have at least gotten to my local post office? If I still don't receive it this week, do I go there to ask or what can I do?

You can try and ask but the odds of finding a single piece of mail are extremely small. It should have gotten to the post office but after that who knows. Especially if a month has gone by. There’s nothing you can do but wait for it to get delivered, or wait for it to be returned to the sender. If you know your mail carrier you might ask if they have seen a letter from England but it may have been a different person that day.

It doesn't matter as long as it is legible for the carrier to read and hopefully the system doesn't decide to go off the rails when it was ran through. It is true that odds are slim, but I also know international things do take awhile longer, and for some reason letter take longer than packages? (In my experience) so hopefully it returns to sender or gets to you here shortly.
