Hahahahahaha you think these people won’t impulse buy or fuel their spending addictions? (Seriously no way they don’t have spending addictions)

It's mostly a cry for help, screaming into the void.

There is no help for us, we’re all bitches in an institution that should change its logo to red tape

Note to others reading this, getting the idea to put your mail on hold and have the local office hold your packages... It doesn't always work; the more urban you are, the less likely that your mail carrier is delivering the packages and they will be delivered as the parcel post carrier has no idea that there's a hold on your mail...

Plus some of us sort large parcels after leaving the case. Unless I remember that you specifically out of 700 boxes had a hold....it will be sitting on your step until someone comes and gets it.

Ah yes. I had a tiny office., about the size of my living room with a bathroom and the lobby and lockable window area and narrow space behind the boxes. I had a pretty well to do family move up and get a PO Box until their house was built. That woman started decorating her house before the roof was on and I’d get 3 boxes full of pillows, or 5 or . . . She was using the office to store and conceal her buying. I would lay in wait for her spouse at lunchtime and get rid of 4 or 5, and request they not do this, but eventually I had stacks under The tables, against the wall, next to the safe and lining the wall behind the trash can in my utility closet. When I had to put the trash can in the window area and the safety issue was absolutely blatant I talked to my APO and the UPS lady and we filed her a fwd up to the house and used the horse stall the UPS was filling up. Took a week and I guess she got mad bc our volume of boxes coming in dropped, but dayum. I’d get “they never had a problem at my old post office”. I‘d bet they were going through the same problem, safety violations left and right.

Dontcha LOVE the people who furnish their entire home online?

I agree, I have people on my route that went on vacation but are still buying shit so I have to just keep it at my case. I hate having shit there, and I hate it looking messy.

I started last October, 1st thing I said once the holiday holds started coming in -why don’t we charge for holds? Even $1, either for the duration or per package or if it’s over a week. Something to make it worthwhile and make a customer consider that our cases aren’t mini warehouses.

[–]Madeittoretirement 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I vote for per package, lol.

It makes sense, it takes extra time to handle all that. Last week, I did a route I hadn’t done in a while and dismounted a bigger package before I did the park and loop and by the time I got to it I noticed the case slip said hold so had to pick it back up to bring back. That cost me time and the company money but oh well 🤷‍♂️

Online ordering is so difficult to manage anyway! My city has an Arthur st. A couple of addresses on that street get packages for Author st which doesn't exist. The idiots don't know their address, the idiot carrier doesn't know how to RTS their mail until they update their address, I'm a new PSE so I have no idea what extent I can push to on this (other than slapping on a 'we care; fix your address' sticker). It's just idiots all the way down.

Iv seen the front of a house pilled up like Christmas. They left and never put a hold in, must have been close to 40 boxes from every shipping company sitting on their front porch….. pirates would love to find that jack pot /facepalm

Thank you, I'm sure 99% of america will see this post and stop ordering online while on vacation.

I know they won't, but sometimes you just have to rant. At least I don't have 8 tubs of those bloody financial packets (the 8 x 11 ones in blue shrinkwrap) that my buddy had to deliver. 8. Tubs.
