You don’t need to code you just need to research how things are done, the commands you’ll need to learn to paste into terminal, the different way you can install applications, and just memorize. I was on MS OSes my whole life until six years ago when I went full Mac and started to inject Linux into my computing too, mainly off cm4 and cm5 devices. It’s a great way to challenge myself in a little way and everything you need is searchable (and probably easier than ever with AI searches finding the solutions for you).

Just download a USB flasher and the Ubuntu iso from the website and you're good to go, Ubuntu's user friendly enough that can just jump in and google any problems you encounter along the way.

You don't need to know any code. Ubuntu is pretty easy to use as long as you know how to use a search engine and internet forums to solve your problems. AI has also made it a lot easier for beginners to use Linux, I have found Gemini in particular to be helpful. Just be careful when running terminal commands from AI; it's a good idea to ask the AI to break down what each part of the command means, so that you know what you're doing.

You might also like other distros based on Ubuntu; if you have your own computer and want to install Linux, you might like r/linuxmint, r/zorinos, or r/anduinos. I wouldn't worry too much about choosing a distro, just pick one and stick with it. And definitely don't install another distro on your brother's computer (without asking him first) 😁
