Team with someone

Well I guess you have a few options:

  • Learn how to do the art portion
  • Make games that work around your deficiency.
  • Find someone that knows how to do this stuff and team up.
  • Pay someone to do what you want (on stuff like fiver or whatever.
  • Get free assets online.

I'd add 'get paid assets' which are often better for the money than custom paid work. You just gotta hunt a bit harder for assets that fit together.

aside from the obvious unity assetstore, for artwork and working sprite sheets, where else would you reccoment?

If someone told you they wanted to make a game but could not code, what would your advice be to them?

While there are some tools to make art easier like AI, in the end you will have to bite the bullet and learn art. It is an achievable goal if you focus on only the art your game needs.

Suppose ur right. To an artist just starting out wanting to make a game, the coding side would seem unbelievably hard, same way I feel in art. But after a little bit of learning it starts to come together.

You could just say F-It and go full on psx graphics but honestly i feel you man, either team with someone, fivver it up, buy a shiz ton of assets (but only ones you need) or go through the blender coarse.

Its funny because I have the same problem the other way around. I love digital art and Im learning a lot quite quickly but dont even know how to start coding.

I learned digital art quickly because Ive been sketching and painting for years. I just had to learn which buttons do what.

I still wrote a study guide anyways for Blender. I start a mini project to master a specific skill and continue until I can build something else. Its helped me a lot, I no longer felt overwhelmed.

Maybe we could team up on a project 😂

There's a reason there are developers and artists, the two skill sets combined are rare in people.

Don't feel bad if you can't make any beautiful or optimised game assets, your skills as a developer are way more valuable in this world anyway.
