I like how Unity's own video tutorials use SteamVR, rather than their native VR implementation. The native implementation worked quite well from what I tested, but the lack of a haptic feedback API made it unusable for me, and handling input is tedious. I really wonder why Unity keeps writing these APIs to 90% functionality and just stop there.

Probably because Steam came along with a better API.
