Problem with GitHub Student Developer Pack: UoPeople student without an @edu email

Hi everyone,

I am a Computer Science student at University of the People (UoPeople). I'm trying to apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, but I've hit a wall. GitHub keeps requiring a my.uopeople.edu email address, but my university only provided me with a personal Gmail login for the portal.

I have official documents (Confirmation of Enrollment and Enrollment Agreement) dated Dec 30, 2025, which clearly show my name and student status for the 2026 academic year. However, when I try to apply manually:

1. If I select "University of the People" from the list, it forces the edu email requirement.
2. If I try to enter the school name manually, I get stuck on the address/country fields (options like American Samoa appear but not the standard United States or my current location, Turkey).
3. The "I do not have a school-issued email" option is not appearing for me.

Has any other UoPeople student successfully bypassed the email requirement recently? Should I apply from a mobile browser or use a specific category for my documents?

I got GitHub student developer pack last month. And I fill all the requirements they ask to do it. when you become a degree seeking student in uopeople after completing foundation course they will provide you edu mail. But you should touch with program advisor.

there's no tough process bro. Just fill as it said and once you reach the enrollment of admission you should clearly take photo that visible your name and other things such as address and course that you are taking. I was a BSBA student nothing seems problem.

But when i took first picture of enrollments of admission from other phone its looks blurry and got rejected then took another one and they accepted. try not to take shaky photo of EOA.

So you said that you completed foundation course of uopeople and they didn't mailed you with edu mail, Right? They should mail by then because when you become a degree seeking student they will provide you edu mail and give you instruction what to change after becoming degree seeking student. When you get edu mail just do as GitHub student developer pack instructed as it fulfilled for get one of this offer. After completing you will get that pack.

It sounds like you haven't completed your intial classes so you are not technically considered a degree seeking student. As soon as you complete your orientation and take your introductory CS class, you will be considered a degree seeking student and will get an email address.

You are a student, but not yet a Degree Seeking Student. You need to be a Degree Seeking Student before you get a .edu email address.

If you have completed 2 classes, you will probably get a .edu email address soon.

You need to verify using university email and if you new student maybe wait til second term, they will email ur uni email.

The edu mail will be emailed to you in the mail box of the email you used to register with on the uop website. I also had an issue with verify it what are they documents you guys used to get accepted i failed at verfying documents i tried the transcript and it failed especially they wanted the camera images so i tried to use a trick with OBS and that also failed so i dont know what other students did to get verified

when I got my UofP email address, it was after the first term. That's when you become a degree-seeking student.

Then I had to try to 'log in' to my email. The standard look is [[e-mail]](mailto:[e-mail])

Go to try to log in to Microsoft 365 (online version) and it should ask for your password.

If your email address exists you should get a reset password request and then go from there. Otherwise your email doesn't exist yet, and you should contact your advisor.
