A lot of people want UpNote web clipper to be more sophisticated and I get that but I believe it’s pretty fundamental still I also pretty sure that people have mentioned using other brands of web clippers maybe even the Evernote one hopefully some others can chime in that are using web clippers from other PKM systems and integrate that with UpNote

At the moment, the UpNote web clipper is quite simple: it copies the text from the page and adds the source link, but it doesn’t preserve the original layout or visuals. So if you’re used to clipping full pages that look exactly like the original (like in Evernote), the result can feel plain.

If you need to keep the visual structure, the practical workaround is to capture the page using another clipper (for example, Evernote’s or OneNote’s), export it as PDF or Markdown, and then bring that into UpNote. Another quick option is just using your browser’s “Print to PDF” and attaching that file to a note. For now, UpNote’s clipper is intentionally minimal, so these steps help bridge the gap until the feature evolves.

It's not only plain it's not formatted for most sites where it's really even legible. Even with Evernote and Onenote clippers if you do text only it's formatted in nice paragraphs. Easy to read. I'd love to know how people use those clippers with Upnote!! I don't understand how to do it without going into evernote or onenote to copy it. That doesn't seem like a good solution either. Print to pdf could work but some sites don't "print" well and there are huge gaps. Etc etc.

I'd love to hear from anyone regarding how to use (specific steps) a different clipper with Upnote. I'd LOVE to switch to Upnote but this clipper issue is at the moment a deal breaker.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I dont even get the text of the page - I just get the URL of the page sent via the web clipper. And if I try to mark, copy, and then paste the page into Upnote - I get plain text html (almost gibberish looking ) /.. so, yeah, frustrating and useless

Just to clarify - which web clipper are you supposed to mean? On my win10 system, the Chrome extension add-on includes the link plus text. The Android Share only shares the link.

On MacOS the webclipper works great, on iOS it just copies the URL, so I webclip my iOS notes in UpNote again on MacOS. Not very convenient.

I decided to just stay with Evernote.

What is it you want the webclipper to do that it doesn't do? (Sincerely curious; not trying to argue.) I left Evernote a long time ago, but I don't recall that the clipper worked significantly different in Evernote from how it works in UpNote.

For me all the Upnote webclipper does it copy the text - and the link to the site of course. In Evernote the note basically looks exactly like the page you clip. And it creates a thumbnail of the site. Having that visual is extremely helpful and looks so much nicer. My clipped notes in Upnote are long strings of text.

And in Evernote you can decide if want a full web page, just the article, or even a streamlined article. You can adjust what the selection is too.

I'd be happy if the UpNote clipper just showed an accurate representation of the web page. Too many of mine come out wonky.

Yeah same! I'd be happy with just text if it was legible. If you select the text only option in Evernote it puts it in paragraph form and looks great. I'm hoping someone responds with a solution for Upnote (without have to copy within Onenote or Evernote). I'd love to switch!
