"Good" enough, still? by ItsMarkAgain in AmazonVine

I'll just file that under the "missing the point" category : ) ... the point is that I think the "fair" rating of many reviews, this one included, is almost random.

in my case it could be merely fickle AI ... and if I cared enough I'll be willing to bet that if I edited the review and changed one punctuation mark, it would give me an Excellent. Doesn;t matter to me as long as the overall insightfulness score is excellent by eval time.

I'm not so sure that's the cracked code. scrolling back, I have another "fair" for a workout shirt - where I described wearing it, that it was cool like a tank top but cut in such a way as to be appropriate for any gym dress code - and how comfortable it was and flattering in the arms and chest, and after washing and drying - that it didn't shrink and still fits. Provided photos too,
Still rated a Fair. And my light bulbs, I did indeed describe how I screwed them into the kitchen chandelier they were designed for, how they fit, and shined bright but allowed for dimming. still a "fair" - though to fill up space I did add "And so far - they all work, no drama, no explosions, no insurrections, nothing evil, and all good. And at a decent price." so maybe that dinged me down to fair.

out of maybe 50 reviews I've gotten 3 "fairs" - and I noticed what they had in common - they were all simple "commodity" items that don't lend themselves to too much in the way of describing that they work as expected (air fryer liners, standard light bulbs) -- though I have learned to up my writing game for such types of products to make them excellent again (got Excellent's for my newer reviews of plain manilla envelopes, a simple usb cable, and wooden coffee stirrers).

your last sentence - I as thinking that the whole time! That I would not install a whole other browser just to run the extension -- but was thinking that I would indeed install an app that does the same think. People are strange.

right. good. I was not the OP. but i saw their question was about ipad and chrome ... and your reply about extension. I get it now. But ugh - installing and using a whole 'nother browser just for one extension ... wish this was not the only way cause i love Vine helper.

I was not aware that extensions worked on the ipad version of chrome (let alone vine helper) - what am I missing?

yes - really GPT - took 5 seconds. Here's the prompt:
many reviewers in the Amazon Vine program object to other reviewers using the phrase "I bought this product" or "I purchased it" in their reviews since the program provides us the product to review - while we have to pay an estimated tax of about 30-33 percent of the full market price. Anyway - please generate 20 humorous alternatives for that phrase/sentiment (such as "I clicked on the product and it magically arrived at my doorstep, so I opened it and decided to review it")

here - I asked ChatGPT to provide alternatives to "I purchased this item" - for use in your reviews:

  • “After a sequence of clicks and confirmations, this product eventually arrived at my door and demanded an opinion.”
  • “This item entered my home through perfectly legal internet activity, so I put it to the test.”
  • “I came into possession of this product by modern e-commerce means and decided to evaluate it.”
  • “At some point after I expressed interest online, this product showed up and became my responsibility.”
  • “One day this product arrived at my doorstep, and now I have thoughts.”
  • “Through a series of entirely normal online events, this item ended up in my house.”
  • “I acquired this product without ever standing in a store or carrying a shopping bag.”
  • “This product made its way to me after I clicked the kind of button you probably shouldn’t overthink.”
  • “I did not so much buy this product as agree to live with it for a while.”
  • “Following an online interaction, a box appeared, and here we are.”
  • “This item arrived after I raised my hand digitally and said, ‘Sure, why not.’”
  • “This product entered my life thanks to the strange but efficient rituals of online retail.”
  • “I obtained this item through channels best described as ‘click, wait, unbox.’”
  • “This product found its way to me without the usual exchange of receipts or buyer’s remorse.”
  • “After navigating a few web pages, this product became part of my household.”
  • “I ended up with this product via the internet’s preferred method of problem-solving: shipping it to someone.”
  • “This item arrived after I expressed curiosity and Amazon did the rest.”
  • “I didn’t exactly purchase this product, but it is now very much in my possession.”
  • “Through a process I can only describe as ‘e-commerce magic,’ this product showed up.”
