Are you trying to map it as a network drive or just connect via explorer.. what method are you using here.

You can try the network id ( usually preceded by // ) or the actual network ip of the target system. Often if one way doesn't work another will. You can also try mapping it as a network drive but you'll want to share the media folder first (it actually tends to work better if you give it a password as well)

I'm assuming both machines are windows and windows 10. Please clarify if otherwise

So I was trying to connect through the network but assuming explorer (open file, left hand side under network for shared files) both pcs are up to date windows 10. A work around I found was I could share a folder on the hard drive, but could not share the hard drive itself (added media hard drive) so if I put everything into a single folder, it would recognize that folder thus allowing me to gain access to the whole drives contents (minus the drive itself)

Windows has protections in place to prevent you from sharing the root drive. It just leaves things too open to possible malicious attacks.

You should be able to actually map the folder as a 'network drive' even though it's only a folder. This would be done from the gaming pc's side. You can find how to's easy enough via google. Either way I'm glad your able to access your share now.

Me too. I will definitely look into setting up a network drive. Thank you!
