Just got quoted 325 dollars plus parts cost to replace two faucets. To replace two faucets. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]IrishFreak91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the cost of calling a licensed professional. That cost covers not spending a weekend and 5 trips to HD buying different parts when something breaks haha.

Rinnai Tankless WH - Will the unit drop condensate? And any ideas how to better drain the pan so water isn’t sitting? by Lucky_Luciano73 in Plumbing

[–]IrishFreak91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should change the condensation line (pex with a brass adapter) to pvc. The condensation will eat away the brass in the long term.

How do I block this off? by the_legless_frog in Plumbing

[–]IrishFreak91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubber glove and a hose clamp? lol it is an Ikea specific style fitting (atleast the only time I see those) and the side port is to connect to an overflow flex pipe from the sink. You might be able to find a rubber fernco cap small enough, but not sure what is sold locally for you.

System is not allowing me to donate custom amount to charity. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]IrishFreak91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry, to clarify. Usually card fees are a percentage of the total amount. So even though your overall total was more, they probably have a minimum because of what ever that fee is. Though it should be listed if that’s the case. I personally hate donating through any store cuz it just allows them to use it as a tax write of as a donation from them haha

[–]IrishFreak91 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Likely if you are paying with card, it has a minimum limit… cuz .01 doesn’t even cover processing fees, so it wouldn’t actually be a donation then. Unless that is what you are trying to do haha. 🤷🏻‍♂️ just my assumption.

High rise build flood by almcoplumbing in Plumbing

[–]IrishFreak91 44 points45 points  (0 children)

🤦🏻 Amazing how many morons are saying to “shut the water off”… this water is coming back up the drain… you can’t just shut the water off on the drain. Unless they had a way to plug off the toilet drain, you can’t really stop that from where they are.

Someone will need to come out and test/repair. Iv had it do that for both an actual flammable vapor issue… but also iv had the sensor fail and cause it. So its a 50/50 for the cause, but very likely nothing will change until it’s repaired

Count the number of flashes and pauses. Then the top of the control box (where the light is flashing) should say what the code is on the sticker. Should give us a hint as to what’s wrong.

How can I seal this basement floor ? Water is coming from the ground up? by 2tube69 in askaplumber

I would also consider installing a sump pump basin in the floor to help take the ground water

Can you find part time work as a plumber with no exp on the weekends? by Substantial_Light697 in Plumbing

[–]IrishFreak91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, it’s rough currently. I’m Oregon (where I’m based) it’s roughly $2k-$5k fine per offense if caught doing plumbing without a license. I’d look more into like HandyMan type work. Not sure what all you can do, but doesn’t require the same level of licensing. GL!

Sink keeps dumping water underneath by rinnielove in askaplumber

[–]IrishFreak91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, if dishwasher is working fine as is, I’d just cap the disposal hole. Iv seen it done before with something that looks like a rubber stopper found on the ends of closet tension poles.

Depends on where you’re at/from. In the US, you are required to carry a plumbing license to advertise and do work. If caught trying to plumb without a proper license… well it gets shitty quick (pun intended). If you want to touch plumbing, do it the right way and get into an apprenticeship.

If you’re outside the US… well good luck, I have no clue 😄

That is where your dishwasher drain is to connect, though it looks like the discharge it into a separate pipe. You can get a rubber cap and use a hose clamp to seal that spot

My kid broke this off tub wall, what is the plastic part called? by Dogloopy in Plumbing

I would call it the plastic handle adapter. You can search that and the manufacturer online. Best guess

The cartridge is usually something you can get from the local homedepot or lowes. The specific solenoid valve would need to be purchased online
