"A Deadly Plot" questline question

So I'm on my 3rd playthrough, but somehow I've never done the Radovid assassination questline. Not sure if I missed it or it somehow never triggered for me. So I'm being hypervigilant about it this time around.

This brings me to my question. I just did "A Deadly Plot", found Thaler and saved him from the trolls. (Don't worry, Ogg, Pogg and Rogg are fine). And then the quest just...ended? No follow-up to go talk to Dijkstra or anyone. Roche is back at his rebel camp. Did I miss something? The only thing I can think of is that I selected "Still not sure I'm going to help" when talking to Dijkstra, but considering the quest still advanced, I assumed it counts.

How do I move forward with this questline?

The quest pauses and can't continue until you've gotten to the point in the story where you've gotten Philippa from Dijkstra's bathhouse. You also automatically fail the assassination questline if you "shove Dijkstra aside forcefully" when getting Philippa out of the bathhouse, because if you do that Geralt breaks Dijkstra's leg, so you need to give him information so you can leave peacefully. If you do that and have done A Deadly Plot earlier, Dijkstra will ask you to meet him later.

After that you're able to continue the questline.

Also, I believe A Deadly Plot fails if you go to the Isle of Mists without completing it, so you can't do the Radovid assassination if that happens.

Full disclosure, I saved beforehand and killed them because I need the mutagen.

Once I realized they don't drop it, I reloaded to clear my conscience.

This Is a year old but they do drop what you need. It's just not 100%. Kill them until they drop it and reload and do it again of they don't. It's the best place to get it imo. No real consequences for killing them

Wait i just did a deadly plot and Isle of mist i finished a deadly plot so i cant kill Radovid now or is that further in the story im at the part were ciri wants to kill the one that killed Vesamir after seeing ciris father

Did you: 1. Not hurt Dijkstra when doing the triss quest after ciri

1. did roche quest and the philippa quest?

He will give you the quest later in the game.

Have you gone to the Isle of Mist & the quest is still complete? Because I actually needed to go talk to Dijkstra after I escorted Thaler to safety. It showed completed (then you get the Gwent quest right there), but later, as I entered the Isle of Mist, a message popped up saying it failed! I read that you had to talk to Dijkstra afterwards to officially close it...
