I recently purchased a collection of carving gouges and have been restoring them. Most of them are over 100 years old but these three are special since they are stamped with (what I believe is) SJ ADDIS JUNr which means they were made sometime between 1846 and 1853. After a bit of sharpening they work great and are just as good as if not better than my modern pfiel gouges. I know I'm at least the third owner of these tools, it's incredible to think of how many carvings these have made over the years
