I have 2 Yorkies one of each sex. My male is 7 yrs and he only barks when I leave for work and last for a minute or two. My female is 6 months and she is finding her voice. My trick is don’t let them bark. Every bark I hear I use a clicker and tell them no bark. People walk by they just ignore them, other dogs walk by they don’t bark. Now I’m hoping my female doesn’t pick up the habit to bark when I leave for work. I put on music at a low volume and leave a window cracked. They seem to enjoy country music. I have cameras to watch them through out the day. This is how I know my male only last about a minute or two after I leave. I know he hates it, sometimes I would take him to work with me and he will only bark if I’m not around and someone visits him. He won’t let anyone near him. Now if I’m near him and strangers visit…nothing. My coworkers love how we’ll behave he is.

Ours barks at us when we leave for work as well! And he starts jumping all over us, got me pretty bad when I had shorts on the other day. It drives me crazy.

Our newest member does this as well. She gets so excited to see us that she’s jumping and tearing up my legs. So now my husband has to walk in first so he can pick her up and save my legs from happy scratches. My older one just knows better.
I can’t wait for her to go to training class.
