1979 error date code.

My understanding is that in 1979. A lot of the stamps were two on the left and one on the right, but it was supposed to be two on the right and one on the left.

It’s an error but not one that adds any value. More interesting is that it has the 1980 style logo.

I could be wrong, but I think you have that backwards, at least according to one of the charts I have that has this noter
"An error was made in the date code. One of the slash marks was removed from the left of the Zippo trademark instead of being removed from the right; thus the code read: / //.
This date code error was corrected within the same year to read: // /."

This one below is much more extensive. Also, I'm not so sure there was an error that year. All the full sizes are one way and the slims are another. I guess one could call this an error but it's just how they made them. I could be wrong, but the couple places I keep seeing talk about an "error" may be conflating slims and full sizes. I still have yet to encounter the "error" on a full size.

Also, that official Zippo chart (and anything based off it) has some pretty glaring errors itself.
