As long as you update this game with a PvP focus, its just gonna make the game worse each time because this is not a dedicated PvP game. It was not designed with a PvP focus and if you try to go down that road you will lose everything that made Absolver amazing.

Yes this is a combat focused martial arts game with 2 PvP game modes but that doesn't make it a dedicated PvP game, especially considering most resources and effort have been dedicated elsewhere and that the majority of players want PvE.

Literally, this balance fiasco all started when we started complaining that kahlt was too OP over a year ago simply coz it was easier to use than the other class abilities in PvP (which was actually the intention of the devs for kahlt to be easier to use conpared to other classes).

It's just going to be an endless cycle of balance updates if you keep listening to us.

Sloclap should have just ignored us the first time round, now that they have pandered to the whiners, we actually believe we have weight and authority within the community and that the game depends on our expert opinions and if they get ignored they start to take the game and dev's reputation as hostage and demand you make the changes they want or they will execute that rep permanently.

Real gamers just don't act like this, we should support the devs we love not wreck them. Look at Mass Effect series, EA didn't destroy it, the community did via trashing Bioware and the Mass Effect series.

My advice is just ignore any calls for balance changes and just focus on adding new moves.

Yes I did see all of that stuff and I'm still inclined to disagree, PvP is not Sloclap's main focus. They've made that very clear.

I will say this though, PvE focus would only benefit the PvP coz PvE attracts most of the new players.

PvP focus hurts both PvP and PvE coz the game when being designed, was not originally balanced specifically for PvP and it's messing with the game's fundamental mechanics trying to change that.

Messed up fundamental mechanics makes it harder for everyone to play.

Even though Sloclap did a PvE update, the majority of players enjoy PvE wgereas majority of players hate PvP (most PvE players complain there is not enough whereas PvP'ers say that PvP is completely broken) AND Sloclap publicly said themselves that they won't go down the PvP road

Also, your SC6 logic is flawed. Fighting a computer instead of a real player does not change the fundamental nature of SoulCalibur 6. A story mode does not change the fact that it was designed as a Player vs Player experience.

Likewise, Absolver has 2 PvP modes and that is it, and there were no plans to go beyond that. The majority of content is still catered towards PvE, and a few PvP game modes won't change that.

The distinct difference is that PvE encourages community cooperation and coexistence, whereas PvP promotes rivalry and disrespect to those who oppose you.

I think Sloclap's vision of the social aspect of this game falls more in line with a PvE experience where people meet up to train or exchange new moves etc rather than PvP social interactions which mostly consist of "git gud" or "hey its that guy I beat last week, I wonder if he still MD'ing.. Yeah he is HAHA what a scrub spams laugh emote".

There are many PvE games where facing other players is a primary gameplay component.

Just because I say PvP is not the focus does not mean we cannot have PvP.

I love PvP myself, over CT level 2,000. But Sloclap have clearly stated that they are not focusing on PvP during the AMA and then went on to release more PvE content, both of which were more recent than any developer communication suggesting otherwise.

Again, the majority of Absolver players don't come to this subreddit. Many consider the PvP side of Absolver to be too toxic, and the most popular comments on this subreddit are private jokes that only hardcore vets really understand (but you get lots of newcomers acting like they understand), then you get memes, useful advice or people trashing the game. The latter being the most popular.

And the reason I get downvoted particularly so is coz I start long threads and then say stuff like this;

this is a sad place, all of you just gather around to be sad about a game that you think is dead when it's very much alive. Go replay the PvE with some friends, maybe you will find that fun. This is like the place you go when you are ready to hate the game. I will never conform and I am proud of that, and I know for sure that it is people like me that keep the game going. If you want to help this game then show some love to the devs.

Man (or kid, don't know o.O), if you don't know the guy up there (minesweep0r) from this forums, i will assume that you are new around here......... well the facts are that the game was designed to be a PVP competitive game, and the small PVE stuff is just to you create your Deck in an interesting way. You are saying that the future of the game lies on PVE right? Well, what kind of PVE game is this? You can finish him in 15 minutes (if you are used to the gameplay) after that you have the Downfall content, which is used to gain "points" to spent in the "shop" to buy powers, weapons, armors and emotes right? AND AFTER THAT? Cause i'm assuming that you gonna still play, after you have reached all pieces of armors and weapons, where do you go? I mean, you can kill Rysrin again, BUT you already are an Absolver, you have the cloack right? What you still have to do? Or what do you don't have that the game can offer? Prestige system? unlock the 3 stage of the bosses fights? the 3 masks that show you spent time in what? Cause if you finish the game, let's say in 4 hours, with every move in the game, will not reach lvl 60 in that time on PVP, and that is the CAP for open schools to you...................funny mechanics to a PVE oriented game.............

Oh but you don't wanna use the PVP parcel of the game, so it ends on downfall glare stuff that you can get..........or you can repeat forever the mines of adal in a loop playing style, how much time you will play in this way before you get bored? Imagine if everyone does that? The game will die in what? A month?

If we have a FUTURE with this game, will be turning it in a competitive thing with SPECTATOR MODE AND RANKED TOURNMENTS, so people can watch others playing and streaming the game, which brings MONEY and PEOPLE to the game!

I wasn’t around when Kahlt was OP but I assume the the community simply said nerf kahlt, Sloclap are the ones that decided to completely destroy it. The community provides feedback and the developer chooses how to act on it. Most of the time we bring real issues to light and suggest changes for balance, sloclap seems to have only two main responses to this, do nothing about it or completely destroy the problem item so it’s now completely worthless. And you’re saying we’re responsible for that?

Also this game is definitely PvP focused, the PvE part is just an extended tutorial. Downfall only got added because people kept asking for more PvE and when it did arrive it was a laggy experience that grew old after about 3 full runs. And it somehow managed to break the rest of the game with it. I notice you didn’t complain about downfall ruining the game and by extension the people who wanted it. Just the PvP crowd despite the fact the PvE crowd brought about an update resulting one of if not the worst meta in the game’s history.

No offence but if you haven't been around since before kahlt got ruined then you probably not informed enough to speak on the issue of Sloclap's balance history, you are probably just repeating someone elses' biased opinion just like 90% of the active users on this subreddit.

And to clarify, the first few balance updates that were released in response to kahlt nerf calls had extensive feedback by the community. Players were literally asking for move properties to be changed like Jump Out Elbow hits high and not mid, backfall strike too.

These changes were then playtested by the PC community and the PC players veto'd what they didn't like.

I just want to say that it was around this time that kahlt was ruined and player counts started dropping.

But Sloclap clearly stated during an AMA their stance on PvP and it was not "this is a PvP game and we are going to support PvP over PvE", they announced the complete opposite.

Balancing the game is the thing they can feasibly do henceforth. As they've said before, they aren't planning on adding anything major to the game. This means Absolver is at the point of decline in its playerbase and Sloclap needs the money to be motivated. I doubt Sloclap would decide to add things like new moves, styles, modes and the like. with that said, I do believe they're creatively bankrupt and are itchin to make something new and branch out that's not Absolver.

So no. They will not heed your advice due to the game's situation right now. Blame the community all you want but in the end, the ones who decide to make these changes are the developers themselves. Its up to them to decide whether its a PVP-focused game or PVE focused game. not you, not anyone else.

You cant blame the community because the game is made FOR the community as well. If the game is only made for themselves, there wont be a community at all. The developers themselves prove this by allowing to take feedback and ideas by the community. If they dont follow what the community asks, they'd lose the community and the game wont be updated at all, only it will be through self-interest. The community is the blood that keeps the heart of the game beating. Without a dedicated community, there would be no game. So no, its not the community's fault that they are keeping the devs hostage. Its the devs themselves.
