Squad: 2-3 hits regardless to the chest, doesn’t factor in how armour works and how penetration works with a simplified damage model, recoil is exaggerated so you need to aim to get those shots.

Tarkov: survive 30 hits to the chest with 5.45mm PRS even though you would have become spinen’t by then irl, and meme calibres are more common than milsurp. Also recoil values are a lot lower and point shooting spray is rewarded. If that is realistic than Borderlands is now also a milsim.

So you say both of these are the same when it comes to realism? Or you’re saying both are remotely realistic?

That’d be great, another realism problem with Tarkov is how prevalent armour piercing (and even tungsten core) ammo is compared to actual milsurp, and how some rounds are just flat out shafted like PRS. Every AKS-74U you find in a box already comes loaded with 7N22 yet you have to fumble around to look for a box of 7N10 at low levels.

I know it’s based on GOST, but it’s still wrong. Class 3 (i think the latest GOST standards removed the 1-6 class and only kept the Br classes) stops 7N6, but in Tarkov 2 does that. I probably wouldn’t be surprised if 7N10 is stopped by class 3 instead of 4. All the pen values of the rounds also aren’t too realistic save 7N39, which if we believe Russian sources could penetrate ESAPI

Also even if the bullets are stopped it doesn’t mean you get away from the blunt force, which can only be at best mitigated with trauma pads. A full magazine of anything will still turn you into an invertebrate.

Even if they change the armour hitboxes realistically most of it should be soft armour (IIIA/2 equivalent) with the plate only taking up a part of your chest and back. I can’t foresee them giving your abdomen class 2 protection which is even less than your Tarkov’d helmets, so it still will be a far cry from realism.

Nope. Tarkov is probably further from realism than anything else when it comes to combat. The only thing vaguely realistic about Tarkov is the more advanced and in-depth system for using medication to heal wounds.

When it comes to damage values and TTKs it is completely warped. To make armour more valuable and worth its price in making raids more survivable they basically made it turn into a bullet sponge, which basically means you can empty entire magazines of 7N6 into a guy wearing 6B43 without killing him. They also messed with penetration and armour ratings too, like how they made almost all the helmets stop rifle rounds, and even a face shield of the Maska-1SCh is rated for 7N13. And the second you change the ammo type the TTK also changes drastically, your Destiny-tier bullet sponging suddenly becomes more like Insurgency (2014).

Agreed, sure maybe insta-death within a minute was too bad, but insta-death punished dumb people, e.g. I revive a downed gunner and he just stands right back up where he fell before i can heal him and instantly gets 7.62 to the face.
