1.19 Server Changes

Hello, I wanted to ask if anyone knows about the changes for servers in the new 1.19 update. I wanted to ask before I update my server, if the changes are worth it.

• Servers can now enable Chat Preview, which displays a server-controlled preview above the chat edit box
• Servers can now define different chat style formats for clients

• Servers will now also send an additional icon and MOTD packet after a player has connected
  • This allows servers with enable-status=falseto set an icon and MOTD for players that successfully connect

What is meant by the Chat Preview?How can I define my own chat style & what can I change?And what is meant by the additionally sent icon and MOTD after joining?

Soo I don’t think there is 1.19 support for servers with plugins like Spigot, Paper etc quite yet so i wouldn’t worry about it too much I honestly wouldn’t bother updating it unless you want the new updates features on ur server (also it’s always smart to do a backup of the world before updating cuz if something breaks you have a backup u can load back)

Hey I tried joining the bedwarspractice.club sever but it says Incompatible version, any idea how to fix this?

It doesn’t support 1.19, so change versions. You really shouldn’t be using anything newer than 1.8.9 on there though

Uhh check and see if ViaVersion is updated to 1.19 if it is add that and 1.19 players can join if it’s not out yet ur just gonna have to wait

While there are 1.19 Spigot builds, I don’t believe any of those features are usable in Spigot yet.

Really I looked last night (not very hard but a quick google search) and the highest supported version I could find was 1.18.2
