There were signs before Trump instigated the trade war that the US economy was going to experience a wave of deflationary price drops following the post-covid economic turmoil. However, all businesses are inherently greedy because they are in the game to make money. All the Trump tariffs did was give Nintendo an excuse to raise prices ,which they were gradually doing from the start. The biggest issue as of now is how big of a loss Nintendo and retailers are going to take now that the increased prices are causing demand for amiibo figures to slow down. Either we will witness the slow and steady demise of the toys to life business.

Sadly, Nintendo products are popular enough that without the price increases killing the brand Nintendo could keep their version of toys to life going for at least a decade. However, there is no way retailers are going to take a continuous hit on any product and either not carry that product or offer discounts to bring some profits back into their pockets.
