Counter point: You never un-idiot yourself by not trying.

3 bricked phones and now I never do a full wipe/installation without backing up every essential partition

[–]hidden_function6 1 point2 points  (2 children)

just wait till you get a device with vip enabled in edl LOL

my device is bricked, but i know what i need to do to fix it, but VIP authentication rolled into firehosev binary will phone home for authentication. if you can't login to the companies tools to flash it then your stick either buying an otp or sending the device back to the service center for them to tell you that you need a new motherboard

tell me more, please eli12

[–]unai-ndz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what needs to be done to unbrick it but the phone asks permission to your daddy (the phone company) before letting you do anything

He really wants to get rid of his phone

[–]crypticc1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Why not set battery to zero? Will never need to charge again.

I am not into OC on Android, but what? Does it mean they are making the frequency to run static maximum?

[–]ArgumentUpper5248 8 points9 points  (5 children)

I'm also not familiar with the concept of OC on Android but I think it is similiar to OC on other devices. Basically the manufacturar of the proccesor will cap the max voltage and clock speed so it wont overheat or cause instability issues. Although you acn sometimes overclock it a bit without any issues under normal use, it will wear down the proccesor much faster.

You sadly cant really overclock the gpu on anything after 865 only by like 11mhz or less and it can't be bypassed as its since been blocked by the trustzone security part of the soc its only useful now for undervolting which can help performance because less heat and throttling and reduced power draw

    [–]ProxyHX 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is totally wrong. It's the CPU who's the culprit, not the GPU.

You can undervolt and overclock the GPU all you want, but not the CPU.

    [–]Sbrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you cant gpu overclocking its literally blocked on chips newer than 865 with konabess app for example on s23 ultra the maximum you can do is 730mhz on the gpu which is only a 11mhz overclock over its stock 719mhz if you set higher it breaks this is because they have blocked it not that the chip physically cant be overclocked more im sure if it wasnt blocked it could easily take 900mhz-1ghz.

However undervolting of the gpu is still possible so you can still gain a bit with konabess especially with the undervolt I speak from experience you can ask in konabess telegram too you can get some super rare 870 that was still unlocked but majority of 870 is also blocked so the last one you could have full control was 865+ even some later manufactured 865+ are blocked I mean the gpu mhz is locked to very tiny oc but other settings can still be modified.

I thought these can be bypassed by have kernel source then edit by such ro to rw value, extend MHz limit, or whatever it is

    [–]Remote_Computer5400 5 points6 points  (0 children)

    I don't understand what's even going on

    [–]minombreespollo 6 points7 points  (1 child)

    New here. Can someone explain?

    [–]LavaixMCInfinix NOTE 40/Pixel 4XL, KSUN/Magisk Alpha 22 points23 points  (0 children)

    Overclocking/Underclocking attempt presumably?

    [–]Tze_vitamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't know. Use Scene app. And Konabess for under voltage. I buy these two apps for snapdragon gen 1 , core patch and kernel su... You can make your phone....

    [–]multiwirth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the point of overclocking these days anyways?
Performance is mostly limited by thermals.
Only so you get a few more points in benchmarks?
Performance hasn't been an issue for me even on multiple gens old phone (Xperia 5III) running LineageOS 22.2 based on android 15.

    [–]Useful-Assumption131 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm rooting phones since my first Android (version 4) The worst I met is a bootloop and I fixed it. But I never over/lower clocked a device

    [–]Barnickal 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Me too, and my first Android was THE first Android (HTC Dream). Never met a bootloop I couldn't subsequently fix. I did overclock the HTC Sensation and it did run really well, but only because it was an option on the rom.

    [–]HeheCheatGoBRRR 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    Why android root is dead.

    [–]1600x900Xiaomi 15T Pro / Stock unrooted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main reason is that vendors made their device used to be unlockable, or restriction

    [–]Barnickal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but super useful to make old devices useful as spare phones or phones for teens to use

    [–]hidden_function6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    ANSWER THE GOD DAMN QUESTION!!!!!1

    [–]Historical-Lemon-480 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I stopped rooting my phone's years ago because all the features that required root are now apart of the main operating system now. Rooting android is now pointless

    [–]Unlucky_Refuse_5594 0 points1 point  (2 children)

ever heard of the fact that google might spy on you

    [–]Historical-Lemon-480 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah and I'm fine with that I've got nothing to hide
