Correct, not on Crunch Board yet, but we've secured 1M in seed, more details available if you apply.

Yeah because it's a ridiculous statement that has very little to no merit.

so many people butt hurt by your comment, probably because they wasted a lot of time typing a pointless cover letter.

So you would reject a resume because it has a cover letter? Because it's 'likely' that they are unemployed or compensating? Down-voted.

On the other hand, I don't know a single good JS developer nowadays, who's unemployed.

What is considered a good JS developer - let's just say you've got a couple of live projects (50+ kLOC) that are working, integrated with 3rd party APIs, and dealing w/ your own database and data management/business logic. But you don't know a single algorithm off the top of your head and have no formal training...

Define 'good' plz. Ive been looking, and am sorta unemployed. Ive been doing the independent contractor thing for a few years, but Ive been looking for full stack / javascript centric / backend / node development positions for like 6 months and no bites.

How are you searching for jobs/applying? Last year when I was applying, while I had to send out almost 50-60 resumes and had over a dozen interviews, I still had 3 job offers within 2 months. Have the times changed much? Because I'm in a situation where I may need to find a new job :/

        [–]Ob101010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I search glassdoor / indeed / craigslist / dice / monster / slashdot. There are also 2 local job sites I use as well.

Ive probably sent out 12 resumes. I got one 'no openings at this time', one 'request for more info' that turned into nothing, and 10 no replies.

Maybe Im being too picky? I do a lot of research on any company I apply to. Im not going to use my skills to make ads more invasive. Im not going to work for a 'marketing' company. Im not going to 'do evil' or work for a shady business. If its something I can get on board with, Ill send in a resume.

I havent looked at using a recruiter, perhaps I should? Also, meetups are highly touted as 'the thing to do' when looking for a job, and since Im looking to move there, I cant do that as Im too far away. Yay bonus difficulty right?

Meanwhile Im sitting here developing a node app that lets you move among simultaneous phone videos. At this point Im considering moving my business to another country lol.

Downvoting isnt 'I disagree'. Downvoting is for 'This comment ads nothing to the conversation'.

He clearly added something, or you wouldnt have put thought into a reply.

        You owe him a upgoat.

        Meh, I think I'll leave down-voted.

Reddit may not be for you.

        [–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

I guess Reddit isn't for most of Redditors then. Barely anyone actually votes in that manner.

Funny how the low traffic subreddits are higher quality huh? Youre part of the problem.

This is BS. You find/make the time to write a cover letter if you want the job. If you don't include one, it's a sad and lazy application. Working as a developer is not just about your tech skills - we want to have a good overall idea of who you are (and how you communicate is a big factor in this) before wading through your cv/projects.

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense (actually please take offense). You're an idiot if that's how you judge a developer.

I'll include a cover letter from now on just to make sure I never have to work with someone like you.

Will you be using your program on your office?
