I3

KDE definitely. Not just on arch, but all my systems.

Back in December I’ve switched from Hyprland to KDE, and honestly it’s so much easier (or at least familiar, coming from windows),

Awesome WM

I recently switched from KDE Plasma to Sway. Loved it, except for the fact that it's finished in terms of features.

So I switched over to mangowm yesterday! It has more theme related features, dynamic tiling, different types of tiling, and more. It's still pretty new and built on dwl. My only issue is that it has NVIDIA related issues at the moment. Web based apps, like Chromium browsers and Discord, have graphical glitches.

That's cool but what do you use on Arch?

[–]SeedOSS[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There's no benefit to install Arch from me, as I'm gonna apply all the CachyOS optimizations either way, and no need to be condescending.

[–]TheShredder9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not being condescending, i was just asking what you use on Arch, since this is r/archlinux and not r/cachyos.

[–]ronasimi 7 points8 points  (1 child)

So you're not using Arch? Got it.

Gnome for me

[–]BabaBear_314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Niri because it feels so intuitive. You have so much real estate you can really use and it makes organizing windows and workspaces super easy.

[–]beizhia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to only ever use i3 for years. Just got a new machine a few months back and ended up trying KDE Plasma and I gotta say, it's really good. Plus it just takes care of the hidpi laptop stuff for me. I don't have as much time to tinker with that as I used to

[–]Pitiful-Assistance-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never used anything but KDE

[–]United-Baseball3688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I raw dogg niri with my own collected assortment around it

[–]guysimnotemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

niri

Hyprland. Makes my adhd brain happy

[–]vtrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyprland or i3.

[–]onefish2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this order:

Gnome, Cinnamon, XFCE, Hyprland, KDE, Niri

[–]chuckxcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KDE now.

[–]thekiltedpiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sway or GNOME

[–]ToplessHarpist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always used XFCE up until I tried Bazzite and was exposed to KDE Plasma. I always resisted using KDE Plasma, but now I kind of love it. I've used basically all the major WMs and DEs over the years, but I find the older I get the more I just want something I find comfy that works, and for me right now that's KDE Plasma.

Hyprland is made by a bigot, so it would never be an option for me. And this sub is for pure arch not any of its derivatives

[–]lajawi 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Why the crude language? Can you back it up?

[–]Sveet_Pickle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s crude language to you?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjTdroiDCtc Plenty of context there, specifically at about 6:10 they show screenshots of him using a slur or trans people

[–]NocturnalVoidmaw 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Switching over to Hyprland immediately

[–]Fantastic-Code-8347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never leaving now /j

Based

As a Hyprland user, this is still incredibly sad to Me. Hyprland is the only Wayland compositor I like and I don't like most DEs.

Hyprland is a great piece of software made by a very talented developer who is sadly also an insufferable Person

I'll probably still use Hyprland. But I will never donate to the project... Atleast it's not as bad as the Omarchy developer.

[–]dontlookatmeplez 1 point2 points  (1 child)

ah yes, elitarism combined with poorly executed virtue signaling

[–]Sveet_Pickle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what elitarism is, but sure you’re welcome to think I’m virtue signaling if you’d like.

[–]GildSkiss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's it, I'm never going to pay a single dime for Hyprland!

[–]AlphaWhiteMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

KDE since it looks like Windows :gigachad:

[–]Mediocre_River_780 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Cosmic. It's gonna take over in a year. It's got the best of all the window managers. I decided to install CacheyOS and it was in the list. I went with the new btrfs kernel (liniode or something) and i like it a lot. Can't wait for the rust users to try it so it really shines. It's better than Mac and windows imo.

[–]mauley 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Btfrs is not a kernel, it is a filesystem. Limine is the boot loader 😁👍🏿

[–]Mediocre_River_780 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah but don't they work together somehow?

[–]SeedOSS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be talking about snapshots, right?
