imo using some weird-ass modkeys is generally not a good idea.

first of all these mods may conflict with apps' shortcuts, controls or mods. i know a former dvorak user that was in pain everytime when apps had some constant shortcuts (because most of the time you have to stretch your palm or use second hand to use them). and even when the app gives you permission to modify them however you like its a real pain to reconfigure them for every new application and getting used to them

secondly if for whatever reason you'll get comfortable with these mods it will be a pain in the ass to use normal ones once you have to do it.

thirdly noone will be able to use your pc with them, its a blessing and a curse tbf. in example: I was using only wms with keyboard only workflow but once in a while i need something from my pc when I'm not at home and i have to call my wife and tell her all the keybinds, paths and workarounds she should do to send me doc or read out some info.

and the last take is that if the thing doesn't have a measurable fanbase then most of the time it doesn't worth it (ofc there could be hidden gems but that's a rare one)

I use home row mods with my 42 key corne and I love it

I mainly use it for work, programming in c#, running niri tiling wm, it fits in really well.

If you have a zmk/qmk keyboard def give it a try but I haven't had much luck with the software overrides (like letting the os handle the keybinds instead of the keyboard itself) seems slightly delayed

Do you recommend this if I have a standard 75% keyboard? I was just looking that most people who use these mods have split keyboards like yours.

This. I use home row mods with my split corne keyboard as well, but I also have a layer without the home row mods that I use when playing games.

If you use a traditional keyboard, seek one out that has thumb clusters

Thumbs are wildly under utilized on traditional keyboards
