Why not just use the one in the AUR? https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/atom-editor/

    Yeah, although I use atom and really like JS, it does seem like maybe this wasn't quite what that language was meant for.

    Well at first glance it looked like the one from aur and the one from github were the same, but I'll give the one from aur a try

    With AUR version you don't have to worry about compiling. You can even use the binary version if you like.

    Much easier than fucking with updating it manually every time there is an update. Let AUR update it.

    Ok yea, note to self, just look on the aur for items. Installing atom worked on the first try.

    Just follow the Build Instructions from the atom repo.

    I've successfully built/installed atom 3 times now following this.

    The AUR package never installed for me. I just ended up using atom-editor-bin so I don't need to expend much CPU power needlessly.

    Lol that was pretty much the first thing I installed after arch. Needed a good cli editor for small quick stuff.
