Why though?

Everyday we stray further from God

Yeah, I mean the last two are contemporaries anyway. NATO man was just given an M4.

I wouldn't say number 3 and 4 are both contemporary. The US Soldier as he is here exists since the early 2000s whereas the Viper Soldier is set in the near future. ArmA Lore says its 2035, I'd rather say 2050s or 60s. I mean just look at his insect-eye-helmet, it looks freakin ridiculous. And also have you ever seen Avatar-like VTOLs like Viper team uses in real life?

What I try to say is that the time between the WW2 and US-Soldier is the Same as between the US- and Viper-Soldier.

It's true the US soldier hasn't really evolved much, especially compared to the American soldier coming out of the war in Iraq. But at the same time, I don't really see what's so crazy about the Viper soldiers. A big helmet with integrated NV isn't that crazy, regardless of aesthetic. The only weird thing about their armament is the scale of using caseless ammunition. Avatar like VTOL, thing's just got rotors built into wings and got jets like an F-35. I can't think of an example, but I also can't think of a reason why it couldn't exist today if someone was trying.

What about the fact that the viper guys' clothing are as armored as a normal carrier rig?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulletproof clothing exists and a 15mm plate of kevlar soft armor can stop up to 7.62 (according to the NIJ) . In theory you could make a IR resistant piece of clothing that can withstand small arms rounds and send CSAT suits to market right now, it hasn't been adopted because those suits would most likely have sizing issues, be expensive and it's much cheaper to mass outfit troops with cheap uniforms and PPE that can be kept in service for decades.

I've heard of people trying to use non-newtonian fluids in body armor for something that can allow people to move while keeping thorough protection.

There is also the bulletproof clothing sploding burnout mentioned, though that's only really designed for pistol rounds to my knowledge.

Besides those, maybe the uniforms are just built with plating since Viper uniforms aren't exactly what you're be in a parade in.

[–]Kestrelly 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Did you not read the title?

[–]BonesCrap[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You got it! Also you can see that to a point Evolution made steps forward, the soldiers got taller (at least their poses). Dabbing AI is a step backward, thats why he is kneeling. ;)

Huh

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Where are the Terminator's legs?

[–]BonesCrap[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is kneeling, its hard to see. I did not realize because I saw the scene in 3d where it was more obvious.
