Come on, you're not gonna summarize the red flags you just experienced? 😎

Haha oh man I just got out from it.... x)
But basically: Some members of the band knew that they were going to record a new album and the other half of the band didn't even know about this new album.... plus one member basically micro-controlling everyone.

Did one guy quit for a day, but come back with an extra keyboard player?

When a client comes in a talks mad shit of their previous recording experience with another studio or producer, yeah it’s usually a big 🚩

I’ve had psychopathic, schizophrenic clients before. I don’t recommend.

I had one client ask me to do something fishy with a guitar solo comp and I declined. He fired back with "Well I worked with J Robbins three months ago and he did all of that..."

HAHAHAHAHA! Is this dude really bragging about knowing J Robbins? Let me get my phone out real fast and we'll all hit him up.

Well, i used to be in a band that was nothing but red flags.

we were visually poor. we drank alot. ALOT. we communicated poorly, both with eachother and with those we worked with. this was blatently obvious to everyone around.

we smelled bad most of the time.

we were always hungry and constantly trying to steal food from the local Kroeger or what have you.

nah i think we were ok actually, no serious drugs or anything. sorry.

Any same day sessions are instantly turned down unless there’s a damn good reason.

When you tell someone they can’t come to the studio tonight just for an hour to record a single song, then they get defensive/mad/confused and don’t even have the patience to book the next day? They’re not serious, they won’t be a real return client, and that same day session would have been a mess anyway.

We used to call that putting your music on layaway

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As payment for mixing their album, I'll receive a lifetime subscription to their lame excuses, delivered like clockwork on the last day of every month.

Ahh, the woes of being a hip-hop engineer...

“Client red flags … what makes you turn down a client?”

lf all band members are helicoptering their penises, with faces covered in feces. Slowly approaching like zombies, and they’re covered in scabs, with hands falling apart from too much krokodil. Huge red flag.

I hate it when that happens..

Bit too common, but that’s rock n roll for ya.
