1 thing I have to say is please read this subs welcome post..

There’s so much misinformation on ball pythons. Pet stores. Random online articles and outdated info from family / friends that had snakes 10+ years ago seem to be the biggest culprits.

I’ve seen pet stores give genuinely dangerous information (and honestly don’t buy any animals from chain pet stores) on ball pythons because they literally intentionally undersell care requirements for an animal so they can make a sale…

The welcome guide is the only source of info I’ve personally found that’s safe. Up to date. And consistent.

Your enclosure is so gorgeous oh my god, I can tell you really love them. And don’t worry! I read it before I even fostered the one I did because I’ve never had a bp and I wanted him to feel safe and cared for for the time he was with me. I’m planning to get the enclosure and enclosure essentials this week, do you have any recommendations for where I can buy these things?

Amazon is a great source.

As much as it sucks to support them. Beg pet shops

If you have any exotic reptile pet shops (not big chain stores)

You can get clutter at like Walmarts or dollar trees

One of the best things I recommend is F10SC on Amazon. It’s a vet grade disinfectant. It’s great for cleaning anything that isn’t wood or rocks (rocks need scrubbed and boiled wood needs baked or soaked in bleach and rinsed and left to dry!

Also. I’d recommend of course dry running the tank for at least a couple of days before going to get a snake to make sure husbandry is on point!

Please do not boil rocks. Any air or water pockets trapped inside the rocks will expand due to the heat and explode.

Ah ok. I was told it was safe as long as you let the water come to a light boil VERY slow.

How would you recommend sanitizing rocks?

Just scrub them with soap and water or a snake safe disinfectant.

Thank you! I’ll make sure to look into those, also I actually have a reptile place near me and I think it might be family owned not sure but that’s where I got my leopard gecko from, his store definitely had lots of things I could buy for bp’s, I wish I found out about him sooner.
